How I maintain long & healthy hair ✨

After making an impulsive decision in the spring of 2022 to chop my hair to my shoulders, I’ve done everything I can to grow my hair back out! Here are my tips:

- I oil my hair every Sunday, and keep the oil in for at LEAST 2 hours. The 2nd slide shows the two oils that I use for my scalp and ends.

- As someone with naturally wavy hair, I rarely ever brush my hair throughout the week. I only brush my hair right before every shower (3x a week), and I believe that is what’s helped my hair maintain its length. Brushing, no matter how gentle, can still cause breakage and some unnecessary hair fall.

- In the 3rd side, I show the hair products I use after the shower and I absolutely SWEAR by these products. I’ve used these products since 2022, and they’ve absolutely revived my wavy hair

- I rarely ever use heat/hair dye/bleach on my hair. I style my hair with heat every few months (3 or 4 months) on a rare occasion. I also get a low maintenance balayage every 6 months or so, just to brighten my hair without majorly damaging it.

- I air dry my hair always, as this is what works best for me and my wavy hair. I heavily emphasise on limiting heat use, as heat has the ability to dry out the hair, thus making it prone to split ends and hair damage. I don’t even own a blow dryer 😆

Incorporating oils, such as rosemary mint oils known for their nourishing properties, can significantly enhance hair health. Regular oil treatments not only moisturize but also strengthen hair follicles, promoting growth. Brushing techniques play a crucial role; using a gentle brush only when necessary helps prevent breakage. For those with wavy hair, reducing frequency and opting for wide-tooth combs can maintain waves while minimizing damage. The choice of hair products is equally important; using leave-in conditioners and serums such as those enriched with biotin can improve hair texture and strength. Heat styling, although tempting, is best kept to a minimum. Relying on natural air drying preserves moisture and prevents splitting. Simple hairstyles, like braids or buns, reduce manipulation and help shield strands from environmental stressors. In summary, prioritizing routine care, product selection, and protecting hair from heat will lead to vibrant, healthy locks.
