Come Set up in Preschool With Me (Fall leaves)
Come set up for a day in preschool with me! All printable materials are on my tpt! Here was what we were up to:
🍁 Fall Leave Play-doh Letters Play-doh Center: Children have to roll play-doh to cover the letters on fall leaves.
🍂 Leaf Pin Poke Fine Motor Center: Children use a thumb tack to poke the holes on the fall leaves.
✏️ Leaf Letter Tracing Cards Writing Center: Children trace letters set on fall leaves.
🔍 Fall Leaf Magnify & Match Science Center: Children have to use a magnifying glass to look at small leaves and match to the bigger card!
🔦 Leaf Letter Discover With Flashlights Literacy & Science Center: Children shine a flashlight on the back of the leaf to see the letter hidden and then can write it.
🌿 Fall Leaf Match Science Center: Children have to match two halves of different fall leaves that are attached to Magna-tiles!
🍁 Fall Colors Sensory Center: Children explored fall colors.
🍁 Leaf Color & Bead Math & Fine Motor Center: Children string beads onto the pipe cleaner by color using the leaf as a prompt.
🍂 Fall Leaf Match & Clip Fine Motor & Math Center: Children have to use plastic chains to link the correct colored leaves to the branch.
🌳 Fall Leaf Branch Clip Math & Fine Motor Center: Children use the task cards and leaves clipped to clothes pins to create a fall branch.
🌿 Leaf Shape Sweep Gross Motor Center: Children have to sweep the leaves into the shapes.
🍄 Fall Play Doh Fine Motor Center: Children roll dough to create fall symbols.
🧩 Fall Letter Cover Literacy & Play-doh Center: Children roll play-doh to cover the letters set in a fall background and add fall loose parts.

Setting up a preschool classroom for fall offers a wonderful opportunity to integrate seasonal themes into early learning activities that support development across multiple domains. Activities like the Fall Leave Play-doh Letters Center encourage children to roll and mold play-doh directly onto leaf-shaped cards with letters, which not only familiarizes them with alphabet recognition but also enhances their fine motor skills and hand strength. This tactile engagement helps support writing readiness. At the Leaf Pin Poke Fine Motor Center, children use thumb tacks to poke holes in leaves, which develops their hand-eye coordination, pincer grasp, and precision — crucial skills for successful handwriting. Complementing this, Leaf Letter Tracing Cards allow children to practice letter formation by tracing on fall leaf shapes, blending literacy and fine motor practice in a seasonal context. The science-focused Fall Leaf Magnify & Match Center uses magnifying glasses to help children examine and compare small leaves to larger representations, encouraging observational skills and scientific thinking. This hands-on exploration introduces basic concepts of categorization and matching, integrating inquiry-based learning. The Leaf Letter Discover With Flashlights activity adds a fun sensory twist by letting children shine flashlights on the leaves to reveal hidden letters, combining literacy with light exploration and encouraging curiosity and engagement. Matching activities such as the Fall Leaf Match Science Center and Fall Leaf Match & Clip Fine Motor & Math Center introduce the concept of symmetry and color recognition while linking to tactile learning by attaching the leaves to Magna-tiles or plastic chains, supporting both math and motor skills. Creating a fall branch by clipping leaves with task cards strengthens fine motor and sequencing skills. Gross motor development is also targeted through the Leaf Shape Sweep activity, where children sweep leaves into shapes, linking movement with shape recognition and spatial awareness. Other centers, like the Fall Colors Sensory Table and Fall Leaf Color Match using tweezers and pom-poms, promote sensory exploration and color sorting. Finally, the Fall Play Doh Fine Motor Center encourages creative expression as children sculpt fall symbols, which further develops fine motor control and creativity. Activities like the Fall Letter Cover Literacy & Play-doh Center blend artistic play with letter recognition, integrating multiple modalities for rich learning. All these fall-themed centers capitalize on the natural curiosity and enthusiasm children have around seasonal changes, making learning engaging, meaningful, and relevant. Incorporating such diverse, multisensory experiences supports comprehensive development, enhancing literacy, math readiness, motor skills, and scientific inquiry in young children during the early years.
