Day Trip Destination in “upstate” NY
Lovely day in Haines Falls / Palenville, NY. what a great way it was to celebrate the autumn equinox 🍁🍃🍂
Right in the catskill mountain area, perfect day trip destination. The leaves were just starting to turn so it’s the season for it!
If you’re up for some extra driving, stop by Brio's in Phoenicia for breakfast / lunch or dinner on the way to or from North Point. (i love their breakfast and prefer it to the phoenicia diner which always has a wait!)
Drive over to the North/South Lake Campground for some woodland exploration!
We stopped by Kaaterskill Falls, Viewing Platform on the way (about 5 minutes down the road before the campground) for some gorgeous cascading views - 3 tiers! it’s truly a huge and beautiful waterfall. but the main destination was North Point in the campground. something new 🤔
PS yall its a lovely campground with lots of possibilities for activities such as hiking biking swimming and kayaking ect :)
Bring your empire pass! for free day parking at the campground- or just $10 a car.
PS lots of farm stands and antique shops on the way as you pass to stop and check out as well. not to mention gorgeous views while driving 🏕️
upon entering the campground, Drive down the road and keep to the left. You’ll see the pull off with a sign on the left side of the road for north point among a few other hikes as well. North point crosses over the escarpment loop and mary’s point. North point is a 4 mile out and back with a few rock scrambles. it passes by Ashley falls - a cute little waterfall but sadly it was dried up when we went. North point brings you up 700+ feet in elevation with very rewarding views of the mountain and north lake at the top. View from north point captured in the first picture.
