Garlic Butter Linguine with Cheesy Beef and Italian Sausage

Ingredients:

12 oz linguine pasta

2 tbsp unsalted butter

1 tbsp olive oil

5 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 to 1 lb ground beef

1/2 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy, casings removed)

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes

1/2 cup beef broth (or pasta water)

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1/2 tsp black pepper

Salt to taste

2 cups baby spinach

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook linguine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup pasta water.

2. Make the Garlic Butter Base

In a large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat.

Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).

3. Cook the Meat

Add ground beef and Italian sausage to the skillet.

Break apart with a spoon and cook until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat if needed.

4. Build the Sauce

Stir in red pepper flakes, Italian seasoning, black pepper, and salt.

Add crushed tomatoes and beef broth (or pasta water).

Simmer for 8–10 minutes until slightly thickened.

5. Add Greens & Pasta

Stir in spinach and cook until just wilted.

Toss in the cooked linguine until well coated in sauce.

6. Make it Cheesy

Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the pasta.

Cover with a lid (or broil briefly in oven-safe skillet) until cheese is melted and gooey.

7. Serve

Garnish with fresh parsley.

Serve hot with extra Parmesan on the side.

... Read moreIf you're looking to elevate your home-cooked pasta dishes, this garlic butter linguine with cheesy beef and Italian sausage is a fantastic choice. Incorporating both ground beef and Italian sausage creates a rich, savory flavor profile, while the minced garlic and a touch of red pepper flakes add a subtle heat that balances the dish beautifully. An important tip when preparing the pasta is to reserve some pasta water after boiling; this starchy water helps to create a silky sauce that clings perfectly to the linguine. The combination of beef broth or pasta water with crushed tomatoes produces a hearty yet light sauce, which complements the cheeses without overpowering the other ingredients. Adding baby spinach not only brings a touch of vibrant color but also boosts the nutritional value by adding iron and vitamins. For cheese lovers, using a mix of shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan guarantees a gooey, flavorful finish that melts deliciously on top of the pasta. Covering the skillet or briefly broiling the dish ensures the cheese melts evenly and creates a golden crust on top. This recipe is quite flexible; you can adjust the spiciness by choosing mild or spicy Italian sausage, and add extra vegetables like mushrooms or bell peppers for variety. Serving the linguine with extra Parmesan on the side provides a nice finishing touch for guests who like an extra cheesy bite. Overall, this garlic linguine with cheesy beef and Italian sausage provides a comforting, crowd-pleasing dinner option that's fairly simple to prepare, making it an excellent addition to your weeknight meal rotation.
