From Japan to America! In my 3rd Trimester 🤰🏽
Hey Chile! 👋🏽 I miss Japan soooo much! The peace and food alone was my favorite. It’s a breath of fresh air. I feel like I was literally on vacation for three years!
Everything was new and an adventure! I would move back in a second!
Okinawa, Japan is definitely one for the books for me, for sure! Honestly, since I’ve been back in the states (it hasn’t been a year yet.) I feel like I’m grieving in a sense.
Welp, on to the next adventure!! ☺️Until next time Oki! ✌🏽🇯🇵🍜💴 #okinawa #okinawatrip #okinawajapan
Leaving Okinawa was incredibly bittersweet, especially when passing by familiar landmarks one last time. I remember vividly seeing the Hilton Okinawa Chatan Resort sign, standing tall amidst the swaying palm trees lining the road. The exterior always had such a welcoming, resort-like vibe, even from a distance, and seeing it as I departed really brought home how much I'd miss this island paradise. The vibrant energy of the Chatan area, with its unique blend of local charm and international flair, was truly special, and the resort was a prominent, beautiful part of that landscape. Navigating the transition from Japan to America in my third trimester was an adventure in itself, full of unique challenges and unexpected moments. Every step, from checking in for my ANA flight (seat 31F, hoping for some extra legroom!) to the final pass through customs, was a poignant reminder of the amazing three years I spent there. Those airport signs, pointing to 'ENTRANCE' and different gates, felt like a metaphor for my life at that moment – 'This way! Or That way?' – heading into a brand new chapter back home. I made sure to capture a shot of my pregnant belly, a little traveling companion on this big move, a permanent reminder of this incredible journey. The airport experience was a whirlwind of emotions. Seeing the 'Customs' signs displayed in multiple languages, a final taste of Japan's international hub, was a quiet moment of reflection on all the cultural immersion I'd experienced. Then came the long flight. Oh, that 22-hour flight in the third trimester! It was definitely challenging, with constant stretching and trying to get comfortable, but I tried to make the best of it. I remember indulging in some in-flight comfort food – yes, those containers of fried chicken and potato wedges hit the spot when hunger struck! And of course, staying hydrated was key, so a bottle of Ito En jasmine tea was my constant companion. I even managed to catch some of 'Creed' on the in-flight entertainment screen, trying to distract myself and get some much-needed rest before landing. Even with the exhaustion, there were moments of pure contentment, just watching the 'Oki skies' from the car on the way to the airport, knowing I was carrying precious memories (and a precious little one!). Missing Japan is an understatement; the peace, the incredible food, and the unique culture were daily joys. Coming back to the States feels like a whole new adventure, almost a grieving process for the life I loved so much. But as they say, onto the next! Until next time, Oki! ✌🏽🇯🇵🍜💴
