Being the "strong friend" in any group is often seen as a badge of honor. I’ve personally found that many of us who are labeled as strong tend to bottle up our struggles because we don’t want to burden others or appear vulnerable. It’s a common misconception that strength means always being able to handle everything alone. In reality, true strength also includes knowing when to ask for help and allowing ourselves space to be human. From my own experience, I've realized that checking in with those strong friends—whether it’s a quick message simply saying "How are you really doing?" or setting up a casual hangout—can make a big difference. Sometimes, the strongest people don’t voice their needs until someone takes the first step to show care and concern. I’ve learned that by encouraging openness and responding with empathy, we create safer spaces for these friends to share their true feelings. So next time you think of that resilient friend who never seems to need support, remember: your check-ins could be exactly what they need to feel seen and less alone. Strength doesn’t require perfection—it requires connection.
