From my experience, the process involves not only hand stitching for several hours but also meticulous cleaning and preparation of the leather to ensure durability and an appealing finish. Each stitch contributes to the strength and aesthetic of the final product, making it unique compared to mass-produced covers. Working with recycled leather adds an environmentally friendly element, appealing to those who value sustainable choices. The texture and character of recycled materials tend to tell a story through their natural wear and variations, enhancing the journaling experience. I found that taking the time to carefully assemble all pieces results in a journal cover that is not only functional but also a piece of art. This kind of craftsmanship does carry a price, often higher than factory-made products, but it reflects the time, skill, and sustainable materials used. If you appreciate journaling as a personal or mindful activity, having a beautifully crafted cover can enhance that experience. Personally, I have found that investing in handcrafted journal accessories elevates my appreciation for journaling sessions. It’s a reminder of the value of handmade items and the personal touch they bring. For anyone considering such an item, evaluating the materials, craftsmanship, and how much you value sustainability and uniqueness can help decide if the price feels justified.

So yes. Because of the labor. Sadly though people are used to fast fashion and will complain about it. I bet someone will appreciate the craftsmanship that went into it though.
