This summer I took a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina ⛱️
We stayed at an Airbnb which was renting out an apartment in an apartment complex. It had a pool and a bunch of restaurants and stores near by. I recommend doing this , especially if you want to just do it all on your own time. And of course if you’re a group of people.

... Read moreSo glad you're looking for Myrtle Beach inspiration! My recent trip felt like a 5-star dream, and I'm excited to share more details to help you craft your own perfect getaway. Beyond just picking a destination, planning really makes the difference, and Myrtle Beach offers so much to explore.
First off, let's talk about the incredible attractions. One absolute must-do is visiting the SkyWheel at Downtown Myrtle Beach. The views are breathtaking, especially at sunset! I loved how you go around more than twice, giving you plenty of time to soak it all in. Plus, the air conditioning inside the gondolas is a lifesaver on hot summer days – a real bonus! Each gondola can fit at least 5 people comfortably, making it perfect for families or groups.
For souvenirs and unique finds, don't miss the cute shops around town. I found some amazing comfy tees and gifts for my family and friends. The prices were totally affordable, and there was such a various sales selection, from plushies to keychains. Great for finding something special to remember your trip or for those back home.
And oh my goodness, the food! If you're a seafood lover, you absolutely have to try an All You Can Eat Seafood Buffet. I highly recommend places like Capt. Benjamin's Calabash Seafood. Imagine endless crab legs and shrimp! What surprised me was that delicious desserts and sweets were also included, making it an incredible value for an absolutely delicious meal.
Want to see some amazing marine life? A dolphin tour is a fantastic experience. I took a Sea Racer tour, and it was so refreshing to be out on the water. The sights were beautiful, and having the opportunity of seeing dolphins in their natural habitat was truly special. It's an affordable and memorable way to spend an afternoon. For the ultimate thrill and a truly unique perspective, consider a helicopter ride. It's an absolutely stunning once-in-a-lifetime experience. Just remember, they usually have weight guidelines and accommodate 2-3 people at a time, often with two different helicopters running. The views from above are unparalleled! And for a cute, simple pleasure, keep an eye out for hermit crabs on the beach – they are just soo cuteeeeeeeee and fun to watch.
The original post mentioned staying in an Airbnb, which is a fantastic idea, especially if you're traveling with a group or prefer having your own kitchen and living space. Many Airbnb options are in apartment complexes with pools and easy access to restaurants and stores, offering that 'do it all on your own time' flexibility. When planning your Myrtle Beach vacation, also consider hotels or resorts if you prefer amenities like daily housekeeping or resort-style pools. Booking in advance, especially for summer, is key to getting the best deals and locations.
Beyond specific activities, think about the best time to visit. Summer is vibrant but can be crowded, while spring and fall offer pleasant weather with fewer crowds. Don't forget essentials like sunscreen, beach towels, and comfortable walking shoes. Transportation-wise, having a car gives you the most freedom to explore, but ride-sharing and local taxis are also available. Creating a rough itinerary helps, but leave room for spontaneity – some of the best memories are made when you stumble upon something unexpected!
Myrtle Beach truly has something for everyone, whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or delicious food. I hope these expanded tips and insights from my own trip help you plan an unforgettable South Carolina getaway. Get ready to make some incredible memories!
