hot take: EVERYONE LOOKS the SAME?!

#lemon8contest #AskLemon8

Honestly I know this is going to be a super hot take but even when it comes to how I create content I do NOT want to look like a clone?!

I have Pinterest boards and magazines and loads of instagram saves, but then I sit and wonder… am I just becoming another version of who I think I’m suppose to be?

When I was younger I use to only dress for myself, style was my only control and I wanted to express myself the only way I could, & that was through my fashion.

Fast forward to three kids, lots of therapy and loads of imposter syndrome & people pleasing & I don’t think I know how I want to represent myself anymore.

I know I was ahead of trends always watching movies, reading books and scrolling through tumblr and CD catalogs for outfit inspirations and would hold my own photoshoots in the backyard.

I guess what I’m asking is, what the hell is it going to take me to feel inspired to want to dress the way I feel again?

What helped you all out? I remember always wanting to be a spice girl and I would stalk British fashion too.

I don’t knock the similar styles, and I know everyone is just trying to find their identity.

Where do we turn for inspiration lol ?! Hello out your millennial auntie

... Read moreIn today's fashion landscape, the challenge of individuality is ubiquitous. With social media platforms like Instagram and Pinterest inundating us with similar styles, many feel pressured to conform. To combat this, it's essential to take a step back and reconnect with your personal fashion journey. Begin by revisiting your style inspirations from the past. Reflect on what made you feel confident and unique before the pressures of comparison took over. Engage in a wardrobe audit: identify pieces that resonate with your style. Challenge yourself by mixing and matching to create new outfits or even repurposing old ones that spark joy. Exploring fashion blogs or attending local thrift shops can reignite your creativity and offer fresh perspectives. Engaging in communities, both online and offline, where authentic styles are celebrated can also provide motivation and inspiration. Consider following these tips to find your way back to personal style: 1. Keep a style diary: Document outfits that make you feel empowered and explore the reasons behind your choices. 2. Attend fashion events or local markets for hands-on interaction with diverse styles. 3. Follow influencers who emphasize authenticity over replication. They can provide a refreshing take on the nuances of individual expression. Ultimately, the goal is to embrace your journey in fashion, remembering that your style is an evolving reflection of who you are. As you navigate this path, celebrate your uniqueness and influence those around you to do the same.
