@Lemon8Parenting

📺 People ask how I do it — especially with TWO. Honestly? It’s HARD. Some days I’d love to hand them a screen just for 10 minutes of quiet & honestly- it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.

🤭 But then I watch them invent games, crack each other up, and get wildly creative with the simplest things… and I remember why it’s worth it.

📕 The American Academy of Pediatrics says the average U.S. toddler already gets 2–3 hours a day 😳. That’s not the lane we want for ours right now.

☀️This isn’t about being a “perfect parent.” Every family chooses their own rhythm. For us, it’s screen-free — sticks, blocks, dirt, toy cars & tons of chaos — and we’re loving it.

🍋 Drop a lemon if you’d try it.

📌 Save this if you want a reminder that screens aren’t the only option.

... Read moreChoosing to raise children without screens is a challenging yet rewarding parenting approach, especially with twins involved. Many parents face daily struggles balancing convenience and their children's healthy development. Research, including guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics, notes that toddlers in the U.S. spend an average of 2–3 hours per day on screens, which can impact attention spans, social skills, and creativity. Opting for a screen-free lifestyle encourages kids to engage with their environment imaginatively. Simple items like sticks, blocks, toy cars, and even dirt become tools for inventive games, fostering problem-solving and emotional bonding among siblings. The natural chaos that ensues can be a positive indicator of active learning and joyful exploration. While some may view the absence of screens as a limitation, this mindset shift invites parents to create meaningful routines that align with their family's pace and values rather than striving for perfection. It also supports children's physical health by encouraging outdoor play, which stimulates sensory and motor development. For parents contemplating this path, starting gradually by limiting screen exposure and introducing alternatives like storytelling, creative crafts, or nature walks can ease the transition. Communities and online groups also offer support and ideas, making the journey less isolating. Ultimately, raising screen-free children is about prioritizing authentic connections and nurturing creativity over convenience. This choice reflects a commitment to long-term wellbeing and helps children develop skills and memories that screens simply cannot replace.

Obviously someone who’s barely a month old doesn’t need a screen. They can watch a bit of tv and stuff but once kids get older that’s when they prioritize getting school work done so they have time to relax. Being a kid is time to be creative and have time outside before your drowning in school work
