I just completed my first official run event yesterday, and I am already thinking about when the next one will be! 🏃♀️🏃♂️
I was never really into running during my school days, but I started running more regularly last year to keep fit. One day, a colleague casually introduced me to the JomRun app and mentioned the many themed fun runs available in SG. 🐶🐱🐰
Since I was already running quite consistently, I thought joining one would be a fun experience and could even motivate myself to "train" more! 💨
The sesame street run I joined was held at marina barrage, with different distance options (2km, 4km and 6km). The fee came up to about $68+ after a $20 early bird discount (refer to last page for the breakdown). Even though I only signed up about 3 weeks before the event, i was still eligible for the early bird discount! Honestly, it is quite pricey but for the overall experience i would say it is worth it! It might be nice to attend something similar annually. On the day of the event, I topped up an additional $10 to get a customised engraving on my medal! 🌸🍀
💯would recommend!! If you have just started running, definitely consider joining these events for a fun and motivating experience! 🥳
... Read moreJoining a themed fun run like the Sesame Street Run in Singapore was truly a game-changer for my running motivation. I found that such events offer more than just a race; they create a festive atmosphere filled with energy from fellow runners and family supporters alike. The option to choose from multiple distances—2km, 4km, or 6km—makes these runs accessible to beginners and seasoned runners.
One feature I appreciated was the early bird discount I was still eligible for, even though I signed up only three weeks in advance. This shows the event’s flexibility and encourages last-minute participants to join without missing out on savings. The event fee, around $68 after discount, might seem steep initially, but the overall experience, including race bibs, finisher medals, and post-run refreshments, justifies the cost. Additionally, I decided to pay an extra $10 for a custom engraving on my medal, making it a personal keepsake that motivates me to run more.
From using the JomRun app to discover events in Singapore to participating in this run, I realized how fun runs can be an excellent way for non-runners or casual joggers to stay motivated. The camaraderie and the themed excitement (with beloved Sesame Street characters like Elmo present) make training and crossing the finish line feel rewarding. I highly recommend anyone new to running to consider joining such events—they provide a structured goal and an enjoyable community spirit, perfect for enhancing fitness and socializing.
Lastly, attending runs at scenic locations like Marina Barrage adds to the charm—they combine exercise with beautiful views, making the experience even more memorable. I’m already excited to explore more fun runs in Singapore, aiming to make this an annual fitness tradition.
