🌙 Day 4 PM Devotion — Girl, Read Your Bible
Trusting God’s Timing
📖 Proverbs 19:21 — “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.”
💕 What This Means
This morning, we talked about trusting God’s plan. Tonight, we’re taking it one step further: trusting God’s timing for that plan.
You can pray, prepare, make wise decisions, and do everything you know to do—and still have to wait.
Proverbs 19:21 reminds us that we can have many ideas about how our lives should unfold, but ultimately God’s purpose will stand.
Sometimes the hardest part isn’t believing God can do it.
It’s trusting Him when He hasn’t done it yet.
🌷 Modern-Day Example
Maybe you’re waiting for an answer, an opportunity, financial improvement, a relationship to make sense, a family situation to change, or simply some clarity about what comes next.
And when you’ve been waiting long enough, you may start wondering:
“God, did You forget about me?”
No.
A delay doesn’t automatically mean denial.
Sometimes God is preparing circumstances you cannot see. Sometimes He’s preparing you. And sometimes what feels late according to your schedule is perfectly positioned according to His.
Don’t compare your timeline to someone else’s highlight reel. Their season isn’t your schedule.
💗 Apply It Tonight
Before bed, write down what you’ve been trying to rush.
Then tell God:
“I still want this, but I want Your will more. If it is for me, prepare me for it. If it isn’t, redirect me. And while I wait, help me live instead of putting my life on hold.”
Then release:
• The deadline you created in your head.
• The pressure to have everything figured out.
• The comparison to other people’s lives.
• The fear that you’re running out of time.
• The belief that nothing is happening simply because you can’t see it.
Waiting doesn’t mean God isn’t working.
✨ Tonight’s Affirmation
I release what I cannot change.
I trust what I cannot see.
God’s timing is not working against me.
I will not rush what God is taking time to build.
What God has for me will arrive in the season He knows I’m ready to receive it.
🙏🏽 Night Prayer
Father, thank You for carrying me through Day 4.
Tonight, I surrender my plans, expectations, deadlines, unanswered questions, and everything I’ve been trying to force into my preferred timeline.
Help me understand that waiting does not mean You have forgotten me.
If You’re protecting me, help me trust You. If You’re preparing me, help me grow. If You’re redirecting me, give me courage to follow. And if the answer is simply “not yet,” give me peace while I wait.
Protect my home and the people I love tonight. Quiet my thoughts and remove the pressure to solve tomorrow’s problems before I sleep.
You’ve already gone before me. I don’t have to rush to get there.
I trust Your plan.
I trust Your wisdom.
And tonight, I trust Your timing.
In Jesus’ name, Amen. 🤍
📝 Day 4 Notes
God’s timing is not my timing.
Delays are not always denials.
Closed doors are not dead ends.
God is directing my steps even when I can’t see the entire path.
My job is to stay faithful—not force the outcome.
🌸 Bible Girlie Reminder
You don’t have to rush what God is taking time to build. What’s for you will not miss you. Rest in His timing tonight. 💕
Waiting on God's timing can be deeply challenging, especially when life feels uncertain or your plans seem stalled. From my personal experience, I've found that embracing the truth of Proverbs 19:21—"there are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord shall stand"—has been a guiding light during seasons of waiting. There was a time when I was eagerly anticipating a breakthrough in my career. Despite my prayers, preparations, and pushing forward with what I knew was right, progress seemed slow or invisible. In those moments, doubt crept in: "Has God forgotten me?" Yet, practicing the advice to surrender my deadlines, release the pressure to have it all figured out, and avoid comparing my journey to others helped me shift my perspective. By journaling at night what I was rushing and honestly presenting it to God—as the devotion encourages—I learned to replace anxiety with trust. Affirming that "God's timing is not working against me" built my faith to keep living fully, rather than putting life on hold while waiting. An important lesson I learned is that delays are not denials. Often, God is either preparing me, preparing circumstances, or redirecting my path in ways I cannot yet comprehend. This mindset transformed waiting from a frustrating pause into a sacred space of growth and preparation. For anyone struggling to trust God's timing, I recommend creating a nightly ritual of releasing control, praying for peace, and affirming faith in His perfect plan. It's also helpful to avoid social media comparisons or letting others' successes dictate your sense of timing, as each person's path is unique. Remember, trusting God’s timing doesn't mean passive waiting; it means active faith, continuous growth, and readiness to receive what He prepares at the right moment. As you rest in His perfect timing tonight, take comfort in knowing that what God has for you will never miss you regardless of how long the wait may feel.
