Creating an original character (OC) for a beloved universe like Arcane is such a fun and rewarding challenge! For Meowe, my goal was to design someone who could genuinely interact with a complex character like Silco, bringing out different facets of his personality while adding a unique dynamic to the world of Zaun. I wanted Meowe to have a certain vulnerability mixed with a playful spirit, which I often try to convey through her cat-like features and expressions. It's not just about making them look good; it's about imagining their story, their motivations, and how they would truly fit into the narrative of Arcane. For me, the 'Silco x OC' dynamic is fascinating because it allows for exploration of warmth and connection in a world often depicted as harsh. One of my favorite pieces to draw was the one where Meowe is affectionately leaning over Silco. I imagine moments of quiet tenderness amidst the chaos of their world, where even hardened characters like Silco can find a moment of peace. Capturing that relaxed expression on his face while Meowe shows her affection was a key goal for me. It's about exploring the 'what ifs' in a story, and what kind of relationships could bloom under unexpected circumstances.
