It's so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of building a business, isn't it? The endless to-do lists, the pressure to perform, and the constant stream of new ideas can often leave us feeling overwhelmed and anxious. I know I’ve been there more times than I can count! That’s why, like many of you, I've found immense solace and strength in Psalm 46, particularly verse 10: 'Be still, and know that I am God.' This isn't just a beautiful verse; it's a powerful business strategy in disguise. For me, 'being still' doesn't mean doing nothing. It means intentionally pausing, stepping away from the chaos, and centering myself in God's presence. In those moments of stillness, I find clarity that rushing through tasks never provides. It’s where I discern whether a new project aligns with my purpose, or if I’m just chasing another fleeting trend. This practice helps me remember that 'God is within me; I will not fall,' as Psalm 46:5 beautifully affirms. It's a reminder that even when things feel uncertain, there's a divine foundation supporting my efforts. So, how do I practically incorporate 'be still and know' into my busy entrepreneurial life? Morning Devotion & Prayer: Before diving into emails or social media, I dedicate time to prayer and reading scripture. Sometimes it’s just five minutes, other times longer. This quiet time sets the tone for my day, grounding me before the demands begin. It's my way of saying, 'God, you're in charge of this day and this business.' Scheduled Breaks: I've learned the hard way that working non-stop leads to burnout, not breakthrough. Now, I schedule short breaks throughout my day – even just 10-15 minutes to step outside, breathe, or listen to worship music. These aren't just mental breaks; they're opportunities to 'reset' and reconnect with the Source of my strength. Mindful Decision-Making: When faced with a big decision – launching a new product, hiring a team member, or even setting a new goal – I consciously take a step back. Instead of reacting impulsively, I pray about it, journal my thoughts, and seek wise counsel. This 'stillness' in decision-making has saved me from countless potential missteps. Celebrating Small Victories (and resting in Him): It's easy to always look ahead to the next big goal. But Psalm 46 also reminds us to acknowledge God's presence in our current circumstances. Celebrating small wins, and consciously resting in the knowledge that 'God is within her,' helps me appreciate the journey and trust that His timing and plan are perfect, even when I can't see the whole picture. This journey of building a kingdom business isn't always smooth, but integrating the wisdom of Psalm 46, especially 'Be Still and Know That I Am God,' has been a game-changer. It transforms moments of fear into opportunities for faith, and helps me serve with genuine purpose, knowing that ultimately, my success is defined by the lives I touch and the glory I bring to Him.
