Love Story
We met at an airport for a trip I didn’t want to go to for a business conference. Me and my 7 personalities didn’t like the fact that he approached us to help because, “I’m an independent woman” and trauma usually leads.
I was coming out of a relationship where someone walked out me when I got diagnosed with breast cancer because he “couldn’t deal with that”. In the other hand, this wonderful partner I now have could relate to the struggle and pain of cancer since he had lost an aunt to the illness.
We ran into each other at the conference, exchanged numbers, and here we are, 11 years later! Grew emotionally, learned to trust, got engaged, bought a house, got two puppies, held each other up when time pressed down, and continue to do so.
God’s blessings come in weird ways: a trip you don’t want to go to, what one sees as a loss, a connection thru common pain, or just one of my personalities putting my guards down to give this dude a chance.
