Hey everyone! I'm so excited you're interested in how I bring my sketches to life with color. You saw the 'before and after' of my stylized eyes drawing, and I wanted to share a few more tips on how you can achieve your own creative, beautiful, and colourful artwork, especially when using paint pens! First off, it all starts with a solid foundation. My process always begins with a detailed pencil sketch. For the piece you saw, those intricate stylized eyes, stars, and crescent moon were all carefully laid out on my sketchbook page. Don't rush this step! A good sketch provides the roadmap for your colors. I often use my Pentel Graphgear 500 pencil for its precision, which really helps with those fine lines. Once the sketch is perfect, it's time for the magic of color! Choosing the right tools makes a huge difference. I absolutely love working with Grabie paint pen brush tips – they give you incredible control and vibrant pigment. The Grabie paint pad paper is also fantastic because it handles the ink beautifully without bleeding through, giving you those clean, crisp lines and smooth fills. Now, let's talk about making your drawing *vibrantly colored*. For this particular piece, I went for a playful palette of pink, purple, yellow, and orange hues. When selecting colors, think about contrast and harmony. You want colors that stand out against each other while still feeling cohesive. I often start with lighter colors and build up to darker tones or accents. You can even layer some paint pen colors once the first layer is dry to create depth and new shades. Experiment on a scrap piece of your drawing pad first to see how colors interact! To ensure your creative drawing looks beautiful, pay attention to neatness. Paint pens allow for very precise work, so take your time filling in areas. For intricate details, use the brush tip very lightly or hold it at an angle. The 'After color' image shows how carefully applied colors can really make the design pop. Don't be afraid to add highlights or shadows with different shades of your chosen colors to give your artwork more dimension. Finally, remember that the most colourful drawings come from a place of joy and experimentation. Don't be afraid to try new color combinations or techniques. Every piece is a learning experience! I hope these extra tips inspire you to pick up your own paint pens and transform your sketches into something truly spectacular. Happy drawing!

I personally think it looks way better before the color. It’s eyes straining to tell what it is after the color. (No harsh criticism - coming from a fellow artisan/graphic designer) The sketch is fire 🔥
