Watercolor Painting!🩸🧛

When I set out to paint this, I really wanted something that felt atmospheric but wasn't too complicated, perfect for a chill art session. First things first, gather your supplies. Besides the Funto Mini and Ohuhu 100-color watercolor sets and Artify brushes I mentioned, you'll want some good watercolor paper (I usually go for 140lb cold press), a couple of jars of water for rinsing brushes, a paper towel or sponge for blotting, and a palette for mixing colors. Don't forget a pencil and eraser for your initial sketch! My journey usually starts with a light pencil sketch. For a vampire, I like to think about classic silhouettes – maybe a high collar, sharp fangs, and piercing eyes. You don't need to be an expert portrait artist; a simple, slightly exaggerated outline works wonders for that "easy horror" vibe. I literally just sketched out a basic head shape, added some hair, and then thought about where the fangs would go. Remember the phrase "Make this painting with me!"? This is exactly the spirit I'm going for – keeping it simple and fun! Next up, color choices! For a truly spooky vampire, I lean into a palette of deep reds (think dried blood, not fresh!), cool blues, grays, and of course, black. For the skin, instead of a standard peach, I mix a tiny bit of grey or pale blue into my lightest skin tone to give it an ethereal, slightly undead look. I usually start with very diluted washes, applying the lightest colors first. For instance, I'd lay down a pale, cool wash for the face and hands, letting it dry completely before moving on. This layering technique is really key in watercolor and helps build depth without making things muddy. Once my initial washes are dry, I start adding shadows and details. This is where those Ohuhu colors really shine with their range! I use a slightly darker mix of my skin tone for the shadowed areas under the cheekbones, around the eyes, and beneath the jawline. For the eyes, I love using a deep red or even a dark blue, leaving a tiny white dot for a highlight – it instantly brings life (or un-life!) to the character. Now, for the fun part: the classic vampire elements! Those fangs need to pop. After painting the lips (perhaps a muted red or even almost black), I use a fine brush with opaque white or a very pale grey to define the fangs. If you want to add a touch of drama, a faint trickle of deep red from the corner of the mouth can really sell the "horror canvas" idea. Just a tiny dab and then soften it with a damp brush. Don't forget the background! Even a simple, diffused wash of dark blue or grey can add so much atmosphere. I often create a soft gradient, darker at the top and fading out, to give a sense of mystery. A big tip for beginners: don't be afraid to experiment! Your first try won't be perfect, and that's okay.
