BREAKING BOOK NEWS
V. E. Schwab is releasing a new book June 10, 2025!
She has been working on this book for the past three years and has described it "as Addie's darker sister, as my toxic lesbian vampires..."
I could not ask for anything more enticing!
I had the honor of meeting her and listening to her speak about her writing process and books when she visited Pittsburgh about a year ago, and she vaguely mentioned a lesbian vampire novel she was working on because "why not have more?" I have been waiting for this announcement since then! I was also able to get a signed copy of The Invisible Life of Addie Larue (which will get its own post one day because it is profound).
This is listed in the press release for Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil:
"Three young women, their bodies planted in the same soil, their stories tangling like roots.
One grows high, and one grows deep, and one grows wild.
And all of them grow teeth."

Okay, so the news about V.E. Schwab's 'Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil' is absolutely electrifying, right? I mean, June 10, 2025, feels so far away, but knowing what's coming makes the wait almost unbearable! For those who might be new to the magic of V.E. Schwab, you are in for a treat. She's a master storyteller known for crafting vivid worlds and unforgettable characters, often blending fantasy with a touch of the macabre and deeply emotional narratives. Her previous works, like 'The Invisible Life of Addie Larue,' captivated millions with its poignant exploration of immortality, love, and what it means to leave a mark on the world. And let's not forget the 'Shades of Magic' series, which took us through parallel Londons filled with elemental magic and daring adventures. So, when she describes 'Bury Our Bones' as 'Addie's darker sister' and teases 'toxic lesbian vampires,' my imagination immediately goes wild with possibilities! I’m personally imagining a story that delves deep into complex relationships, drawing on themes of power, desire, and perhaps even ancient curses, all wrapped up in her signature lyrical prose. The snippet from the press release – 'Three young women, their bodies planted in the same soil, their stories tangling like roots. One grows high, and one grows deep, and one grows wild. And all of them grow teeth.' – gives me chills! It hints at a gothic, intertwined narrative, perhaps exploring familial bonds or a shared dark secret that binds these women. The 'grow teeth' part definitely confirms the vampiric element, but in a way that feels fresh and symbolic, not just your typical fangs and cloaks. If you’re like me and can’t wait, I highly recommend revisiting her backlist. 'The Invisible Life of Addie Larue' is always a profound read, and it might offer some thematic parallels to what's coming. Or perhaps dive into 'A Darker Shade of Magic' for a different flavor of her incredible world-building. What I love about V.E. Schwab's books is how she consistently pushes boundaries and delivers stories that resonate long after you've turned the last page. This new book isn’t just another fantasy novel; it feels like a significant evolution in her storytelling. I remember hearing whispers about a lesbian vampire novel she was working on during a Q&A I attended (that conversation with her was phenomenal!), and it’s incredible to see it finally coming to fruition. If you haven't pre-ordered yet, now's the time to secure your copy and join the countdown to June 2025! We're in for an epic ride, fellow readers. What are your theories about 'Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil'?
