When I first envisioned a 'Dark Enchanted Forest' collection, I knew I wanted a centerpiece that embodied both rawness and intricate beauty. That's how the idea of a wooden corset came to life. Working with wood veneer for a wearable piece like a corset might sound extreme, but the material surprisingly offers a beautiful rigidity combined with a degree of flexibility once properly treated and shaped. It’s not like carving a solid block of wood; instead, thin sheets of wood are carefully molded and joined. The natural wood grain itself becomes part of the design, adding an organic texture that fabric simply can't replicate. I drew inspiration from mythological figures, hence the 'Artemis & Aphrodite' aesthetic, blending the wildness of nature with delicate artistry. To enhance this, I meticulously applied copper leaf accents, which catch the light beautifully and add a touch of aged magic, reminiscent of hidden treasures or bioluminescent moss in a deep forest. The contrasting white lacing wasn't just functional; it was chosen to pop against the dark wood, drawing attention to the corset's structure and the details it embraces.
