Peacock
Hey Lemon8 fam! So many of you have been asking about my process for creating vibrant watercolor pieces, especially when it comes to subjects as intricate as a peacock. I absolutely adore painting these majestic birds; their iridescent feathers and graceful forms are just incredible to capture on paper. It's truly a rewarding challenge to blend those rich blues, greens, and golds with the delicate transparency of watercolor. My journey with watercolor started a few years ago, and I instantly fell in love with how fluid and unpredictable it can be. For anyone just starting out, don't be intimidated! Grab some basic paints, good quality paper (this makes a huge difference!), and a few brushes. I find starting with lighter washes and slowly building up layers helps achieve that luminous effect watercolors are known for. Peacocks are fantastic subjects for practicing color layering and feather textures. I usually begin with a light sketch, then lay down the lightest blues and greens, letting them dry before adding darker details and those iconic "eye" patterns on their tail feathers. It's all about patience and embracing happy accidents! Now, speaking of sharing my art, Lemon8 has become my go-to platform. I've found such an encouraging community here, and it's amazing to see how other creators showcase their work. One of my favorite ways to present my finished pieces, especially for process videos, is by using CapCut. It's incredibly user-friendly for editing short clips, adding music, or even putting on text overlays to explain steps or share tips. For this peacock piece, I actually filmed a time-lapse of parts of the painting process and then spruced it up with CapCut to share a quick glimpse behind the scenes. It really helps bring the static image to life and gives my followers a better understanding of the effort involved. Lemon8's visual-first approach is fantastic for artists. It allows your work to shine and reach people who genuinely appreciate art. I love scrolling through my feed and getting so much inspiration from other talented individuals. If you're an artist thinking about sharing your creations online, I highly recommend giving Lemon8 a try.
