unplanned pregnancy

hello ◡̈

My baby is everything I didn’t know I needed. 🤎

If things had gone according to my plans I would have started my dog grooming business, bought a house, gotten married and THEN thought about having a baby.

Truthfully, having my son is better than all of those plans anyway. If I could go back & do it all over again, I’d do everything exactly the same. He’s the best thing to ever happen to me.

Even though I was immediately excited to be a mom — I was so very scared. I had taken so many childhood development & early education classes (plus I am the oldest of 11) that I thought I’d feel pretty well equipped but I was still so anxious. Questioning how I’d do it. Wondering what life had in store. Worried about finances.

The advice I gave in the slides would be the advice I would have loved to hear when I found out I was pregnant. Maybe it would have eased my anxiety a bit more.

The quote on the last slide says it all — if you’re unexpectedly pregnant, maybe you’re exactly where you’re meant to be even if it’s not where you had planned to be. 🤎🤎🤎

For me, I know I have found my true meaning to life through being a mother. It’s the greatest thing I’ll ever be and I will always push myself to be great at it. Especially because things didn’t go according to plan. 😌

... Read moreReading this heartfelt post really took me back to my own pregnancy journey, especially around the 5th month mark. Like many, my pregnancy wasn't exactly 'planned,' and navigating those initial months felt like a whirlwind of emotions. By the time I hit my 5th month, I remember feeling a mix of relief as the morning sickness faded, but also a new wave of anxieties about what was to come. It’s when your bump really starts to show, and it becomes undeniably real to the world – and to yourself! One of the biggest things I focused on during that time, echoing some of the amazing advice here, was really giving myself time to process everything. It wasn't just about my body changing; it was about my entire identity shifting. I spent a lot of time reflecting, sometimes even while soaking in a relaxing bathtub with some citrus slices and flower petals – a little self-care ritual that really helped me connect with my growing baby. During the 5th month, I started getting serious about *preparing my home*. It wasn't about buying everything all at once, but more about decluttering and imagining where the baby’s space would be. Simple things, like clearing out a corner for a bassinet or starting to research nursery themes, made it feel more tangible and less overwhelming. And making a doctor's appointment (or keeping up with them!) became a comforting routine. Those check-ups were crucial for peace of mind, not just for the baby's health, but for mine too. Don't be afraid to ask all your questions, no matter how silly they seem. I also dove deep into *educating myself about babies and parenting*. There's so much information out there, and it can be overwhelming, but finding reliable sources and connecting with other moms who had been through similar experiences was invaluable. Learning about fetal development at 5 months – like feeling those first consistent kicks! – made the whole experience so much more magical and real. It helped me understand my options regarding childbirth classes, pediatricians, and even potential childcare down the line. What I really took to heart, and what resonates so much with the original post, is *recognizing the joy an unplanned pregnancy can bring*. In my 5th month, as I felt those little flutters and saw my belly grow, a profound sense of love and excitement started to replace the earlier fears. It wasn't the path I had envisioned, but as the quote says, "I might not have gone where I wanted to go but I think I've ended up where I needed to be." This stage felt like a turning point, where the reality of motherhood truly began to blossom, reminding me that sometimes, the best things in life are the ones you didn't plan for. Embrace the changes, seek out your support system, and allow yourself to truly feel the wonder of this unique journey.
