toys for baby’s age

hello ◡̈

💖 Babies 0-3 months 💖

• Play through their senses!! Like touching new textures. Seeing contrasted black and white colors. Hearing mom and dads voices!

• Play in reflexive play, like sucking and grasping! Try placing toys in their hands!

• During tummy time, have toys they can look at or toys by their feet that they can feel as they kick.

These early play experiences may seem subtle, but they pave the way for a lifetime of learning and exploration.

💖 Babies 4-6 months 💖

• At this age their sensory play turn into picking up toys, holding toys, putting toys in their mouths, etc.

• They begin to have a cause-effect relationship, like when they shake their rattle the toy makes a noise.

• Play becomes more interactive. Baby might want you to join in on the play, show them how their toys work!

This play is the next building block in being able to fully play independently!

💖 Babies 7-12 months 💖

• Sensory play is much more advanced. This is when baby will love new textures like water, sand, grass and other fun textures.

• Baby will understand cause and effect on a deeper level. “I put this ball in this hole and it rolls all the way down the track.”

• Baby might catch on to noises certain animals make and mimic it when they play with those toys. Or maybe they will make car noises when playing with cars.

• Problem solving skills will continuously develop over these months. Puzzle and stacking toys are great ways of exercising this skill.

During these months playtime becomes more active, with babies crawling, walking, and climbing, and they start to understand and respond to simple games like hide-and-seek and pat-a-cake.

... Read moreWhen selecting toys for your baby, it's essential to consider their developmental milestones. For infants aged 0-3 months, sensory toys that offer various textures and colors can help stimulate their senses and encourage exploration. Choices like soft rattles and crinkle toys can enhance tactile experiences. As babies grow into the 4-6 month range, they begin to enjoy toys that involve cause and effect, such as musical toys or stacking blocks. This is a critical time for interactive play, so engaging with your baby by demonstrating how toys function can foster their independence. For 7-12 month-olds, find toys that enhance their advanced sensory play. Look for puzzles, stacking toys, and toys that make sounds when manipulated, which can strengthen their cognitive and physical skills. Activities like hide-and-seek or simple games encourage further development. In addition, always ensure toys are age-appropriate and safe. Regularly check for small parts that could pose a choking hazard and opt for non-toxic materials. Involving your baby in playtime not only aids in their development but also creates bonding moments that foster emotional growth.
