Book 4 of ACOTAR DONE!
This video was the halfway mark, but I finished it really fast… this is the smallest book, and it’s called the CHRISTMAS SPECIAL! It’s more POV, very light and not as dramatic and emotional! STILL A GOOD READ! Very fun! But no where near the other books prior! #acofas #acotar #sarajmaas #booktok #bookrecommendations
I recently dove into *A Court of Frost and Starlight*, often affectionately known as the ACOTAR Christmas Special or simply ACoFaS, and it was certainly an experience! As someone who's devoured the previous books, I had a mix of anticipation and curiosity about this particular installment, which serves as the fourth book in the ACOTAR series but stands apart in its tone and purpose. For those wondering what exactly makes A Court of Frost and Starlight a 'Christmas Special,' it's primarily due to its setting around the Winter Solstice. The entire novella is steeped in a festive, cozy, and often reflective atmosphere, focusing on the characters celebrating the holidays and dealing with the aftermath of the intense war that concluded in the previous book. It’s less about grand-scale battles or intricate political maneuvering, and more about the quiet moments of healing, love, and rebuilding. What truly sets ACoFaS apart, and something I noticed immediately, is its lighter, more introspective tone. While the main ACOTAR books are known for their high stakes, dramatic twists, and emotional rollercoasters, this novella offers a much-needed breath. It switches between multiple perspectives, giving readers a deeper look into the minds and everyday lives of beloved characters, something that was a delightful surprise. You get to see them grappling with their trauma, rediscovering joy, and navigating their relationships in a more domestic, personal way. It’s definitely the smallest book in the series so far, which contributes to its 'light read' feel. Don't go into A Court of Frost and Starlight expecting major plot progression or epic confrontations. Instead, anticipate a 'slice of life' approach within Prythian. It feels like a warm hug after the intensity of the previous volumes, allowing both the characters and the readers to process events and reconnect with what truly matters. I found it incredibly fun and charming, a perfect palate cleanser before diving into the next major arc. While it might not have the same dramatic weight as its predecessors, I still found it to be a good read. It's a wonderful opportunity to spend more time with Feyre, Rhysand, Cassian, Nesta, and the rest of the Inner Circle as they work through their individual and collective struggles. It really highlights the importance of healing, friendship, and finding peace after turmoil. If you’re a fan who loves character development, cozy vibes, and a peek into the quieter moments of your favorite fantasy world, then this 'Christmas Special' is definitely worth picking up!
