Tea room
Whenever my friends and I have an event we feel needs to be even the slightest bit fancy, we head to a tea room dressed up in our sun dresses or skirts while enjoying our fancy tea set up. Honestly this is way better for us than a nice restaurant and it’s like playing tea party
You might be wondering, 'what exactly is a tea room?' Well, beyond just a place to grab a cuppa, it’s truly an experience! For me and my friends, it’s our go-to for making any occasion feel extra special. Imagine stepping into a charming, often beautifully decorated space, where the focus is on savoring time with good company, delicious treats, and, of course, excellent tea. It’s less about a quick meal and more about an elegant, leisurely ritual. When you visit a tea room, especially for a traditional afternoon tea, you can expect a delightful spread. Picture a beautifully adorned table setting, often featuring crisp linens and delicate china. The star of the show is usually a magnificent two-tiered stand (or even three-tiered!), laden with an array of tempting morsels. On the bottom, you’ll find an assortment of savory finger sandwiches – think classic cucumber, smoked salmon, or egg salad, all crustless and perfectly bite-sized. The middle tier is typically reserved for freshly baked scones, usually served with clotted cream and preserves. And for the grand finale on top? An irresistible selection of mini desserts, from delicate pastries to tiny tarts. Don't forget the tea itself! While hot tea is a staple, many places also offer refreshing iced teas, along with other beverages and even a fresh salad to round out the experience. What makes a tea room so much better than a regular restaurant, in my opinion, is the unique atmosphere. It’s a chance to slow down, chat without rushing, and enjoy a truly aesthetic outing. Dressing up in our sundresses or skirts adds to the fun, making it feel like a grown-up version of playing a fancy tea party. It’s an escape from the everyday, a chance to indulge in a little bit of old-world charm. And if you're lucky enough to find a 'garden tea house,' that's an extra layer of magic! These are tea rooms often nestled within beautiful gardens, allowing you to enjoy your tea and treats amidst blooming flowers and lush greenery. The fresh air and natural beauty just amplify the serene and elegant vibe. Whether it's an indoor space with garden-inspired decor or an actual outdoor patio, a garden tea house offers a uniquely tranquil setting that feels like a mini-vacation. For anyone new to the tea room scene, here’s a little tip: don't be intimidated! It's all about enjoying the moment. Most places are very welcoming. While dressing nicely adds to the experience, comfort is key. Take your time, try a variety of teas, and savor every bite. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate friendships, mark special occasions, or simply treat yourself to a sophisticated and memorable afternoon. Trust me, once you try it, you'll be hooked on the charm and deliciousness of a good tea room!
