He loves daring choices, when you put yourself first, and definitely appreciates a bit of cruelty towards others – especially those in power. Don't be afraid to be a little mischievous! He hates selflessness, being a goody-two-shoes, and anything that reminds him of his past servitude. Keep an eye on that approval meter; it's your best friend here. Act 1: Setting the Stage for Seduction Your journey with Astarion starts with building trust and approval. Early on, make sure you recruit him quickly. Key moments to gain his approval include: Grove Entrance: If you agree with his suggestion to 'toy' with the trapped survivor. Kagha's Ritual: Side with Kagha or at least don't immediately condemn her. Helping the Goblins: If you choose to betray the Tieflings, he'll be very pleased. Auntie Ethel: Show a willingness to bargain or accept her tadpole offer. Gur Hunter: Tell Astarion you'll help him deal with it quietly. The Party: After saving the Grove/defeating the Goblin Leaders, if his approval is high enough (around 40+), he’ll approach you. Choose the dialogue options that express interest and lead to a night under the stars. This is your chance to trigger his first intimate scene and learn about his vampirism. Act 2: Deepening the Bond Continue making choices that align with his personality. He appreciates when you're decisive and when you're cautious about your own tadpole's powers. Yurgir's Contract: Encourage Astarion to make his own decisions. Persuading Yurgir to break his contract will earn immense gratitude. Masque of the Red Death: This is crucial! Help him investigate the ritual site and side with him against any obstacles to understanding his scar. This quest is essential for advancing his personal story and romance. Act 3: The Climax of His Story This is where all your efforts come to fruition. His main personal quest, "The Pale Elf," culminates here. Cazador's Palace: The ultimate test. When you confront Cazador, Astarion faces a monumental decision about his curse and the ritual. To maintain his romance and ensure his best outcome, do not let him ascend to become a Vampire Ascendant. Instead, convince him to spare the other spawns and reject Cazador's ritual. This leads to his 'good' ending, strengthening your bond immensely, and unlocking incredibly heartfelt and intimate moments. If you encourage his ascension, the romance can take a much darker, unequal turn. Remember, communication (even in-game!) is key. Talk to him often at camp, and always choose options that show you understand him, support his freedom, and enjoy his company.
