Being a Proverbs Woman

But what I've learned is that it's not about perfection, but about a continuous striving to cultivate biblical wisdom and strength in our daily lives. It's truly about becoming the woman God designed us to be, living a life of purpose and grace. One of the most important lessons I've taken from Proverbs 31 is the emphasis on 'The Word' itself. The handwritten note mentioned principles like 'always doing good' and 'working with willing hands.' For me, this translates into being intentional about my actions and my attitude. I start my day with prayer and a short Bible study, asking God to guide my hands and my words. It’s not just about grand gestures but about the small, consistent choices we make. Do I approach my tasks, whether at home or work, with diligence and a spirit of service? Am I quick to offer help, or do I wait to be asked? These are the questions I ask myself. Then there’s 'Applying The Word,' which the note beautifully summarized as 'good works, motivated, wise words.' I used to think 'good works' meant volunteering extensively, which is wonderful, but it also means how I interact with my family and community daily. Being motivated comes from understanding my calling and purpose. When I feel overwhelmed, I remind myself of Proverbs 31:25: 'She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.' This verse isn't just about external appearance; it's about an inner fortitude that comes from trusting God. It gives me the confidence to speak 'wise words' – words that build up, encourage, and offer sound counsel, rather than tearing down or gossiping. I've found that pausing before speaking and asking myself if my words are truly kind and necessary has been transformative. The 'Characteristics' listed in the note – faithful, kind, wise, praise-worthy – are the fruits of this journey. Being faithful isn't just about religious observance; it's about being reliable and true to my commitments, both to God and to others. Kindness is a conscious choice, especially when it's challenging. I try to emulate the 'woman of praise' mentality, not just praising God, but also actively seeking to praise and appreciate those around me. This journey helps me answer the query: 'what kind of woman does God want me to be?' He wants me to be a woman who fears the Lord, as Proverbs 31:30 states: 'Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.' This verse reminds me to focus on lasting values. To keep these principles top of mind, I’ve even started a simple 'Proverbs anchor chart' in my journal. It's a personal visual reminder of key verses and characteristics I'm focusing on each week. It's not a fancy drawing, but it helps me visualize where I want to grow. It’s a practical way to integrate these biblical truths into my everyday life, helping me to embody the wisdom and strength of the Proverbs 31 woman. This continuous reflection has truly made a difference in my spiritual walk and my relationships.
