Dinner and a movie!
I love doing these with my kids! And they always have a great time! Typically I’ll get it all ready while they are at school Friday, then when they get home we will let the fun begin!

It's so much fun planning themed movie nights, and one we absolutely adore is *Hotel Transylvania 2*! It's perfectly spooky without being too scary, making it a fantastic choice for family fun, especially if your kids love monsters who are more silly than sinister. For those who haven't seen it, Hotel Transylvania 2 continues the story with Mavis and Johnny having a son, Dennis. Dracula is worried Dennis isn't showing his vampire fangs, so he tries various hilarious (and sometimes chaotic) ways to awaken his grandson's inner monster. It’s a heartwarming and funny tale about family, acceptance, and finding your own way. I’d recommend it for kids aged 5 and up, as some scenes might be a little intense for very young viewers, but generally, it’s a blast for the whole family! Now, for the best part – the themed dinner and activities! We always try to make our meals match the movie, and Hotel Transylvania 2 offers so many creative possibilities. For appetizers, I love making "Mavis's Monster Munch." This could be a fun green spinach dip (like swamp goo!) served with black tortilla chips or even just a mix of spooky-shaped crackers and cheese. Another hit is "Blobby's Green Slime Dip" – a simple guacamole with some creative presentation. For the main dish, "Dracula's 'Bloody' Spaghetti & Meatballs" is always a winner. It's just classic spaghetti with a rich tomato sauce and meatballs, but calling it "bloody" really gets the kids excited. Alternatively, you could do "Frankenstein's Monster Mash," which is a shepherd's pie with a topping of mashed potatoes, maybe with some green food coloring for extra monster flair! Dessert is where you can get really creative. "Dennis's Hybrid Howl Cupcakes" are super fun to make. Just bake some cupcakes, frost them with green or red icing, and add some gummy fangs or edible monster eyes. Or, for something simpler, "Werewolf Claw Cookies" – sugar cookies shaped like claws with almond slivers as nails! And of course, no monster mash is complete without themed drinks! "Vampire Juice" is easy – just cranberry or grape juice served in fun cups. For something a bit more adventurous, "Slime Punch" (green Hawaiian Punch with gummy worms floating in it) is always a hit with my kids. To keep the fun going, we always include trivia questions! Here are a few we’ve used: What is the name of Mavis and Johnny's son? (Dennis) What does Dracula try to do to make Dennis a vampire? (Take him to vampire camp, try to make him fly, etc.) Who is Dennis's imaginary friend? (Blobby) For interactive challenges, a "Monster Dance-Off" to some of the movie's catchy tunes is fantastic for burning off some energy. We also love a "Build-a-Monster" drawing contest where everyone creates their own unique monster. Another idea is a "Spot the Human" scavenger hunt around the living room, hiding regular household items and having the kids find them as if they're monsters spotting humans! These little touches truly transform a regular movie night into an unforgettable family experience. It's amazing how much joy a bit of themed planning can bring!

I need this but for Christmas movies!!!
