This is my first alien OC and she came out absolutely perfect. I can’t wait to draw her more with cute outfits and stuff and probably in the future if you’ll see more of her in her story #artdump#cartooncharactere#OriginalCharacters#Art#digitalart #procreate #newoc #Alien#alien OC

... Read moreOh my gosh, creating original characters (OCs) is one of my favorite things to do, and I'm absolutely bursting to share more about my process, especially when it comes to designing unique alien OCs like Margo! When I first started brainstorming Margo, I knew I wanted her to be a 'cute alien character' that really stood out, so I put a lot of thought into her look and personality.
What makes an alien OC truly adorable? For me, it often comes down to finding that perfect balance between alien features and charming, expressive details. With Margo, I envisioned her with vibrant 'green skin' and those fun, 'spiky pink hair' locks to give her a playful, energetic vibe. And those 'pointed ears'? They just add to her unique charm! I also love experimenting with makeup, so adding 'star-shaped makeup' under her eyes felt like a perfect touch to enhance her cosmic aesthetic. These little details really bring her to life and make her feel more approachable and 'cute'.
Fashion for an 'alien girl fanart' character is another playground for creativity. I love giving Margo different outfits that reflect her personality. You might have noticed her in a sleek 'black high-neck top under a purple off-shoulder top' or even a bolder 'orange, sleeveless, cut-out dress with lacing details'. Thinking about what an alien character from her world might wear, or how they'd adapt human fashion, is part of the fun. It's not just about drawing a pretty face; it's about building a whole character from head to toe, including their wardrobe!
When I'm working on 'alien OC art', I usually start with some quick sketches to get the basic forms down. Then, I move into digital art, often using tools like Procreate, to refine the lines and experiment with colors. The magic really happens when you start adding layers of shading and highlights to give the character dimension. Seeing Margo evolve from a concept to a fully realized 'cartoon alien character' on my screen is incredibly rewarding.
Beyond just the visuals, thinking about their backstory and personality is key for any 'original character'. Even if it's just a few bullet points, knowing what makes them tick helps in drawing them in different poses and expressions. Margo, for example, has a curious and adventurous spirit, which I hope comes through in her art.
If you're looking to create your own 'alien OC', my biggest advice is to just have fun with it! Don't be afraid to experiment with wild colors, unusual features, and unique fashion. Whether you're aiming for a 'cute OC' or something more mysterious, let your imagination run wild. And remember, every piece of 'alien OC art' you create helps build their world. I can't wait to draw Margo in more scenarios and explore her story further. What kind of alien OCs do you love to see or create?
So freaking cute! love the personality!
