I love this art style so much🥰✨✨✨🫶
I just love experimenting with different types of art style and I hope one of these days I can make something out of this #Comic #ArtStyle #Artist #DigitalArt
Hey fellow artists! Building on my passion for experimenting with art styles, I wanted to share a bit more about why diving into different aesthetics is so crucial, especially for character designers. When I first started creating my stylized digital art characters, I found myself constantly looking for ways to make them stand out. It's not just about drawing; it's about storytelling through visuals, and your unique style helps convey that story without words! Finding a unique art style for character design often starts with inspiration from everywhere – comics, animation, fashion, even just people I see around. I usually begin by gathering a mood board of elements I love: certain line weights, color palettes, facial expressions, or even how clothing drapes. Then, it's about breaking down what you love about those styles and integrating them into your own work. For instance, with the characters I showed earlier, I really focused on dynamic elements like their spiky black hair with blue streaks and those striking red or black eyes. I found that playing with contrast, like a dark skin tone against vibrant hair, or a light skin character with strong dark features, really made them pop. Specific clothing choices like a dark grey shirt or ripped black jeans, and even the background colors, all contribute to creating a cohesive and memorable character. One thing I've learned is not to be afraid to try new things! If you're struggling to find your own voice, try this exercise: pick a few art styles you admire – maybe a classic comic book style, a more painterly digital art approach, or even a minimalist aesthetic – and draw the same character in each style. See what elements you enjoy most. Perhaps you love the bold, clean lines of a comic style, or the softer rendering of a painterly approach. Maybe you're drawn to exaggerated features or realistic proportions. This process helps you identify your preferences and strengths. I often find myself gravitating towards sharp angles and expressive eyes, which you can clearly see in my stylized digital art characters. Another tip for developing your style is to look at how different artists handle specific details. How do they draw hands? What about hair textures? For my characters, I love to give them spiky hair with dynamic movement, and adding those blue streaks really helps define the texture. Think about the overall silhouette of your character too – does it convey personality? A character in a dark blue shirt and ripped blue jeans gives a different vibe than one in formal wear. It’s a journey, not a destination, and every experiment, even the ones that don't quite work out, teaches you something new. Don't feel pressured to have a fully formed style overnight. Keep practicing, keep exploring different types of art styles, and soon enough, you'll develop a signature look that's all your own, making your character designs truly unforgettable. Happy creating!
