I started 2025 in a psychiatric facility and ended it with a family.
Starting 2025 in a psychiatric facility was undeniably a difficult chapter, but it's incredible how life can change in unexpected ways. Over the course of the year, building connections and finding love reshaped my perspective and healed parts of me I thought were lost. Family doesn't always mean traditional; it can be formed through shared understanding, support, and genuine care. For me, this was a year of embracing vulnerability and opening up to those who became my chosen family. Whether through small daily routines like wearing grippy socks to stay grounded or simply being present with those who accept us, these aspects became my lifelines. Reflecting on this journey, it’s clear that recovery and love often come hand-in-hand. Prioritizing mental health helped me rebuild my sense of self and allowed me to welcome love back into my life. I learned that strength isn’t the absence of struggle but the courage to keep moving forward despite it. If you're going through a tough time, know that transformation is possible. Seek support, cherish the small moments, and allow space for connections that feel authentic. Sometimes, the darkest beginnings lead to the brightest new starts, and this year has been the living proof for me.
