Lupus skin infusion therapy 💉
Alright family… gather around. 👋🏾💜🧑🧑🧒🧒
Ya girl is officially starting Benlysta infusions. Lupus has been getting louder lately with harder flares and skin changes, so we are stepping into a new level of treatment.
After prayer and talks with my husband and doctors, we knew it was time. This was a big faith decision for us.
I am taking you with me for every session. I will be documenting face updates, arm updates, and all the emotions. This is a real life series on healing and trusting God step by step.
If you have been on Benlysta, please share your tips!
• What should I expect?
• What helped you through it?
• What do I need to bring besides snacks? 👀😂
I am resting in James 5:15. If God brought me here, He is not about to leave me. Love y’all. 💜

Starting Benlysta infusions has been both an emotional and hopeful step in my lupus treatment journey. For those considering or about to begin this therapy, it’s important to understand what lies ahead. Benlysta (belimumab) is a biologic medication designed specifically for lupus, targeting the immune factors that cause inflammation and tissue damage, including skin manifestations. From research and personal interactions with other lupus warriors, I’ve learned that infusion sessions typically last one to two hours and are scheduled every two to four weeks, depending on your doctor's plan. It’s wise to bring entertainment like books or music since you might be sitting through a relatively long procedure. Besides snacks to stay energized, consider packing a water bottle, a cozy blanket, and something to keep you comfortable. Many people experience mild side effects such as fatigue or headaches post-infusion, but serious reactions are rare. Staying hydrated and resting after treatment helps ease side effects. Keeping a journal or documenting changes as I do has been invaluable in noticing improvements or potential flare triggers. Emotionally, starting a new treatment often feels daunting, especially when it follows significant disease activity. It helped me greatly to involve my support system, pray, and discuss each infusion with my healthcare team to maintain trust and patience throughout the process. Sharing this journey publicly has connected me with others also using Benlysta, allowing me to exchange practical advice and feel less alone. If you’re on this treatment, I encourage you to share your experience and tips. Together, we navigate lupus with courage and faith. Remember, each infusion is a step forward in managing lupus more effectively and reclaiming quality of life.
