As a newly SAHM Getting out of the house is so so important for my mental health. So I’m trying to make a habit of atleast every few days making it a priority to get out and do SOMETHING. 🫶🏻
For new stay-at-home moms (SAHMs), maintaining mental health can be challenging when spending most of the day within the home. Creating a routine that intentionally includes leaving the house every few days can have significant benefits. Activities such as running small errands, going for a walk, or meeting a friend for lunch provide a refreshing change of environment and social interaction. Studies have shown that regular brief outings increase mental stimulation and reduce feelings of isolation, which are common concerns for SAHMs. Even low-impact trips like grocery runs or visiting a coffee shop can break monotony and enhance mood. Incorporating personal care moments, such as minimal makeup routines highlighted by some SAHMs during quick car prep, also helps boost confidence and create a sense of normalcy outside of home responsibilities. Prioritizing such self-care tasks reaffirms individual identity beyond motherhood duties. Moreover, balancing childcare while allocating time for yourself is crucial. Planning outings around children's schedules and involving them occasionally in errands can create enjoyable bonding experiences while preserving well-being. Using simple habits like setting reminders or planning weekly outings increases consistency and makes getting out a sustainable practice. Remember, even brief changes in scenery and social exposure are important steps toward maintaining mental wellness for new SAHMs.
