God Before You Blow Me Up, Build Me Up

So many people think that once you give your life to God, everything changes overnight. Suddenly you’re holy, healed, and glowing in glory. But the truth is, it’s not instant. It’s a process, and it’s painful at times. The people who knew you in your last season won’t always recognize who you’re becoming in this one.

I was that girl not too long ago…the one who went to the club, and depended on alcohol just to numb the pain. I’ve done things I’m not proud of. But thank God for His mercy because He is a God that forgives. Romans 5:20 reminds us that “where sin increased, grace abounded all the more.” His grace covers all sin. Every last one.

But here’s the part that many don’t talk about…just because you’ve chosen to follow Jesus doesn’t mean life gets easier. The temptations don’t disappear. The trials don’t stop. The gossip doesn’t fade. If anything, it gets louder. Even Jesus was ridiculed, mocked, and crucified, yet He never stopped showing love. (Luke 23:34).

When you start living right, some people will think you’re “acting better than them.” Well, let’s be honest, you are choosing better. You want peace over pain, purpose over partying, and that doesn’t make you fake, it makes you free.

But here’s the real test: when you ask God to use you, don’t expect it to feel good. He won’t use what He hasn’t built. Being used by God means being broken first. It’s uncomfortable. It stretches your faith. You’ll have moments where you want to clap back, but the Holy Spirit will say, “Be still.” Galatians 5:24 says, “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”

So instead of asking God to blow you up, ask Him to build you up. Let Him shape your character before He elevates your platform.

And remember, clarity requires separation. Sometimes God clears your path by clearing your circle. When you start walking in purpose, you become visible, you’re under surveillance. But let that light shine anyway.
