God doesn’t just want your heart…..
We love to say God knows our heart, and He does. The real test comes when He asks for our habits too. A lot of new believers think saying “I live for God” is enough, but surrender is not a speech it is a lifestyle. Social media turns Christianity into soft morning devotionals with coffee and cute journals, but we are not called to be aesthetic Christians we are called to be obedient ones.
The truth is, living for God is a grieving process because the old you is supposed to die. Dying is never comfortable, you will wrestle with cravings, attitudes, addictions, and patterns you built for years. There are days I want to go back to doing things my way; days I still notice old habits crawling back. I pray daily to deny my flesh whether it is food, a negative thought, or the urge to complain. This is real life discipleship.

When embarking on a journey of faith, it’s important to realize that Christianity is not merely about heartfelt emotions or occasional prayers but about cultivating disciplined habits that reflect obedience to God’s will. The transformation described in Romans 12:2 emphasizes the renewing of the mind—a daily, purposeful commitment to change thought patterns and behaviors rather than relying on momentary inspiration. Faith without works is dead, as James 2:17 reminds us. This means that belief alone isn’t enough; we must actively work to change old patterns and habits that hinder our spiritual growth. It’s natural to struggle with cravings, negative thoughts, or even the urge to complain, but success in discipleship lies in regularly denying the flesh and taking up one’s cross daily (Luke 9:23). Think of it as a routine practice, like brushing your teeth—an essential, non-negotiable act for spiritual health. Guarding our thoughts (2 Corinthians 10:5) is fundamental because our thoughts guide our actions. Without control over your mind, old habits can resurface through subtle, unnoticed ways. That’s why transformation isn’t a one-time event but a continuous process requiring intentional self-discipline and prayer. Deuteronomy 28 teaches us that obedience brings blessings. God honors surrender and humility rather than stubbornness or mere sentimentality. Therefore, the call isn’t to appear perfect on social media or maintain an aesthetic image of Christianity but to be real and obedient in everyday actions. Heaven celebrates progress, not perfection. Every small step of surrender and the active choice to change ingrained habits contribute to a genuine discipleship journey. This means giving God not just your feelings but your daily patterns and choices, creating an authentic lifestyle aligned with your faith.
