Prayer: “God, Kill My Flesh”
Father God,
In the name of Jesus, I come to You with honesty and humility.
Lord, I don’t want to keep living in cycles.
I don’t want to keep feeding what You’re trying to deliver me from.
I don’t want to be controlled by urges, cravings, lust, pride, anger, or the need to be right.
God, crucify my flesh.
Kill every sinful desire in me that keeps trying to resurrect itself.
When my flesh wants what’s not holy, interrupt me.
When I’m tempted, strengthen me.
When I want to return to what You freed me from, stop me.
When I feel weak, be my power.
Father, remove my appetite for sin.
Disconnect me from everything that triggers my flesh.
Take the taste out of my mouth for what You hate.
Let what used to excite me start to disgust me.
Lord, I don’t want a double life.
I don’t want hidden sin.
I don’t want secret thoughts.
I don’t want secret habits.
Renew my mind. Purify my heart.
Create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me.
Holy Spirit, govern me.
Convict me quickly.
Strengthen my self-control.
Build my discipline.
And when temptation comes, remind me that deliverance is more important than pleasure, and obedience is better than sacrifice.
I want to be holy.
Not for image, not for people, but because You are God.

It's about replacing negative patterns with positive, godly ones. Building 'self-control' and 'discipline' is a journey, not a destination. It’s about consistently choosing obedience over instant gratification, remembering that 'deliverance is more important than pleasure.' This requires leaning on the Holy Spirit to empower us, because on our own, our strength often falls short in times of 'temptation.' It’s a daily surrender, asking God to 'govern me' and guide every decision. When I feel weak, I remind myself that God is my power, enabling me to step away from what used to excite me and instead embrace what truly honors Him. Through God's grace and love, we can truly overcome and walk in the holiness He desires for us.
