How Hibiclens has helped with my HS

hidradenitis suppurativa has controlled my life for years and I didn’t even know what it was! Once i found out what i had I still suffered in silence! Finally I got to the point that I just needed help! Went to the dermatologist and they recommended I use Hibiclens in the shower! This has been a game changer for my condition! For all my HS warriors out there, what helps you deal with your HS?

... Read moreIt's incredible how finding the right product can truly revolutionize the way we manage chronic conditions like Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS). Like so many of you, I spent years feeling helpless, trying countless remedies with little success, until Hibiclens entered my routine. It wasn't just a soap; it became a cornerstone of how I control my HS and finally take back some power over my skin. Understanding why Hibiclens works has been key for me. This isn't just any regular soap; it's an antimicrobial soap containing chlorhexidine gluconate. What this means for HS warriors is that it effectively kills bacteria and other microorganisms on the skin's surface. For HS, where bacterial overgrowth and infection within hair follicles play a significant role in triggering and worsening flare-ups, a product that actively reduces this bacterial load is invaluable. Using it regularly in the shower, as my dermatologist recommended, has noticeably reduced the frequency and severity of my outbreaks. It helps keep the skin clean and reduces the chances of those painful lesions becoming infected. Beyond just cleansing, managing HS often involves comprehensive wound care for existing lesions. While Hibiclens is fantastic for prevention and general hygiene, there are other tools that can be incredibly helpful for active areas. For instance, I've learned about the benefits of antimicrobial wound care hydrogels. These types of hydrogels can provide a moist healing environment, which is crucial for wounds to heal properly, while also offering antiseptic properties. They can be really soothing for inflamed areas and help protect the skin from further infection. It's not a one-size-fits-all, but understanding these options broadens our toolkit for managing HS. Always discuss with your doctor if a specific product like Bactine antimicrobial wound care hydrogel or any other wound care product is right for your individual situation. Controlling HS is truly a holistic journey, and Hibiclens is just one powerful step. Here are a few other things that have helped me along the way in how I control my HS: Gentle Cleansing: Even with Hibiclens, being gentle is paramount. Avoid harsh scrubbing that can irritate sensitive skin and hair follicles. Clothing Choices: Opt for loose-fitting, breathable fabrics like cotton. Tight clothing can cause friction and trap moisture, exacerbating HS lesions. Moisture Management: Keeping affected areas dry but not desiccated is a delicate balance. Antiperspirants (non-irritating ones) can help in areas prone to excess sweat, but always ensure skin isn't overly dry, which can also cause irritation. Dietary Awareness: Many in the HS community find certain foods can trigger flare-ups. While not universally proven, experimenting with an anti-inflammatory diet, dairy-free, or nightshade-free approach under guidance can be beneficial. Stress Reduction: Stress is a known trigger for many chronic conditions, including HS. Finding healthy ways to manage stress, whether through meditation, exercise, or hobbies, can make a difference. Regular Dermatologist Visits: This is non-negotiable. Your dermatologist can offer personalized advice, prescribe medications, and guide you through various treatment options, from topicals to biologics. Remember, you're not alone in this fight. Sharing experiences and learning from each other is incredibly empowering. Finding what works for you, whether it's an antimicrobial soap like Hibiclens, exploring antimicrobial wound care hydrogels, or adopting new lifestyle habits, is about building a comprehensive strategy unique to your body. It's about empowering ourselves with knowledge and taking daily steps towards better skin health and a better quality of life.
