Same Me, but BETTER!✌🏻

I usually dont make resolutions because I never keep them, but I have a few goals I am going to work towards this year!
• my reading goal is 30 books- 1 a month has to come from my wrapped TBR shelf
• I am going to start back at the gym atleast 3 days a week
• eating out 1 time a month
• I am going to try super hard to start loving my body-will be my toughest resolution yet!
I am really hoping to see some body changes this year-mainly the clothes that started to not fit going back to fitting comfortably!
It's easy to set ambitious goals at the start of a new year, but truly making them stick? That's the real challenge! For 2024, my mantra is 'Same Me, But Better,' focusing on sustainable changes rather than fleeting resolutions. I've been reflecting on how to move beyond just listing goals to actually embedding them into my daily life, and I want to share some strategies I'm adopting, especially since I'm aiming for significant personal growth this year. First, let's talk about that reading goal of 30 books. It sounds like a lot, but I've broken it down. Instead of just hoping to read, I'm scheduling dedicated reading time – even just 20-30 minutes before bed or during my lunch break. I'm also diversifying my book choices; one book a month from my 'wrapped TBR shelf' keeps things exciting and ensures I tackle those books I've been meaning to read. I've found that having a mix of genres, from lighthearted fiction to insightful non-fiction, helps keep burnout at bay. Plus, I'm joining an online book community for recommendations and accountability! Next up, getting back to the gym at least three days a week. This isn't just about physical appearance for me; it's about energy, mental clarity, and overall well-being. My strategy involves variety to prevent boredom. One day might be a group fitness class, another a solo weightlifting session, and a third a brisk walk or jog outdoors. I'm also focusing on listening to my body, so some days might be lighter, but the consistency of showing up is key. Finding a gym buddy or even just creating a motivating playlist can make a huge difference in those days when motivation wanes. The eating out once a month goal is a big one for my wallet and my health! To make this sustainable, I'm diving into meal prepping. Dedicating a few hours on a Sunday to cook bigger batches of healthy meals and snacks means I have delicious options ready throughout the week, reducing the temptation to order takeout. I'm also exploring new simple, healthy recipes that excite me. My trick? Making my home-cooked meals feel like a treat by setting the table nicely or trying a new spice blend. It’s about making the healthy choice the easy and appealing choice. Finally, and honestly, the toughest resolution: learning to love my body. This isn't just about physical changes, though I do hope my clothes starting to fit comfortably again will be a wonderful side effect. This goal is deeply internal. I'm starting by challenging negative self-talk, replacing critical thoughts with affirmations of gratitude for what my body can do. I'm also curating my social media feed to follow accounts that promote body neutrality and health over unattainable perfection. Daily practices like mindful movement, gentle stretching, and even just looking in the mirror and finding one thing I appreciate about myself, are small steps. It's a journey of self-compassion, reminding myself that being 'Same Me, But Better' means embracing my whole self, imperfections and all, and nurturing it with kindness. This year, it's less about striving for an ideal and more about cultivating a deeper, more accepting relationship with myself.
