Finished this tonight also😅

Finished reading this one tonight also!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This one had me interested right in the first chapter!

I actually sort of figured a little bit out which is a first for me! There was still some shocking information that I was not expecting!

I feel like I have been in a slump because books have not been grabbing my attention fast, so I am very glad I chose this one to read while I took a break from Dont You Cry.

Now I guess I need to get back to that one🥴😑

... Read moreYou know that feeling when you're in a total reading slump? Yeah, I was deep in it. Books just weren't grabbing my attention, and I was starting to think I'd lost my love for reading. That's when I decided to pick up The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf, and honestly, it was the best decision! From the very first chapter, I was absolutely hooked. It truly is a testament to why Heather Gudenkauf is called a 'master of suspense,' as it says right there on the book. What truly made this book a 5-star read for me was how brilliantly the suspense was built. The author doesn't waste any time getting into the thick of it, and the pacing is just perfect. I usually pride myself on figuring out plot twists pretty early on, and while I did catch glimpses of what might happen, there were still so many shocking revelations that left my jaw on the floor. It’s rare for a book to genuinely surprise me, but this one did it repeatedly. It was like a puzzle unraveling, and every piece added more tension and intrigue. Speaking of the book itself, the cover for The Overnight Guest is also quite intriguing. It has that subtle, atmospheric vibe that immediately tells you you're in for a psychological thriller. A good book cover can really make a difference, drawing you in even before you read the synopsis. This one hinted at the isolated, slightly eerie feeling of the story without giving anything away, which I appreciate. Sometimes a cover can be a bit too on-the-nose, but this one perfectly captures the mood without spoiling the mystery. It definitely makes you want to pick it up and see what secrets lie within those pages. Hearing that Heather Gudenkauf is a New York Times bestselling author, as the OCR indicates, definitely sets an expectation, and she absolutely delivered. Her ability to craft complex characters and an intricate plot kept me glued to the pages. The way she weaves together different timelines and perspectives is masterful, painting a vivid picture of the events without ever making it confusing. If you’re looking for a book that will pull you in, make you forget about the outside world, and ultimately cure any reading slump you might be experiencing, I cannot recommend The Overnight Guest enough. It was exactly what I needed, and now I'm eager to dive into more of her work!
