MEET NILLA our new deaf puppy
Meet Nilla 🍦🤍
(like vanilla ice cream!)
Our newest little love joined the family today, 6/21/25. Nilla is a lab mix (we think!) and was born around 4/17/25. She’s extra special—Nilla is deaf, but that just makes her all the more unique and lovable.
We’re so excited (and learning as we go!), so if you have any tips or experience with deaf dogs, we’d love to hear from you in the comments. 💬🐾
Let the journey begin! 💕 #DeafDogLove #RescuePup #NillaThePup
Nilla is not just any puppy; she is a beautiful lab mix who happens to be deaf. Deafness in dogs can present unique challenges, but with the right training and care, deaf dogs can thrive just like any other. Common tips for raising a deaf dog include using visual cues, hand signals, and maintaining a positive reinforcement approach to training. It's essential to create a safe environment for Nilla, ensuring she can navigate her surroundings confidently. Understanding her condition will be an ongoing journey, and connecting with the deaf dog community can provide invaluable support. Sharing experiences with others who have gone through similar situations can help us learn and adapt better ways to communicate and bond with Nilla. Owners of deaf dogs often find that the bond they create can be even more profound, as they learn to understand each other beyond traditional training methods. Engaging with her will involve a lot of patience and creativity. We look forward to learning from this experience, making memories together, and celebrating Nilla's uniqueness every step of the way. If you're a fellow dog lover, especially with experience in communicating with deaf pets, please share your insights in the comments below!
