A. I can't believe this is considered 8 & Up (age group) with that one little intimate scene &. Some of the witty banter!... definitely not for an 8 year old.. but other than that everything else they could consume in my opinion…
B. OMG I really loved this book yall I was putting it off cause Elsie Silver had me in a choke hold! But this one gave hunger games & fourth wing combo for me (MY OPINION) .. it was fast pace (FOR ME) I couldn't put it down !!
My entire heart broke for ISLA sooo many times through the ending of this book !!! All she wanted to do was break the curse on her people ! She was definitely a little to trusting and loving for a ruthless game 😔
But the lies and deception that she goes through had me on the edge of my seat !!! She was pretty much bamboozled at every turn by soo many different people she held near and dear .. I had to keep reading to see how she would press forward and handle It all ! .. & how would she deal with these people after the truths had been revealed!
I needed to know If ISLA would do what she was born todo …. Save her Realm !!!

Okay, so I just finished my latest BOOK REVIEW and I have to talk more about this “Isla book,” Light Lark! The original post only scratched the surface of why this read was so captivating. When I mentioned “Hunger Games” and “Fourth Wing” vibes, I really meant it. Imagine the high-stakes, life-or-death challenges of a brutal competition, combined with the intricate world-building and a touch of romance and magic found in epic fantasy like Fourth Wing. Light Lark perfectly blends these elements, creating a truly immersive experience that keeps you guessing from start to finish. What really drew me into this “Isla book” was, of course, Isla herself. Her journey is incredibly raw and relatable, even amidst the fantastical setting. I mean, who hasn't felt betrayed or let down by people they trusted? Isla’s unwavering determination to save her people, despite being constantly bamboozled and facing relentless deception, made me root for her even harder. She’s not a flawless hero, which makes her even more compelling. Her trusting nature, while sometimes a weakness in a ruthless game, also highlights her inherent goodness and hope, which is so refreshing to see in a protagonist. The emotional rollercoaster she goes through, from heartbreak to fierce resolve, is palpable, and I truly felt every one of her struggles as if they were my own. The pacing of Light Lark is another huge plus for me. There are no dull moments; the plot twists come fast and furious, and just when you think you've figured things out, the rug gets pulled right out from under you. This made it utterly unputdownable. I found myself sacrificing sleep just to read 'one more chapter,' only to realize it was 3 AM! If you're looking for a fantasy novel that will grab you by the collar and not let go until the very last page, then this is definitely an “Isla book” you should pick up. And let's quickly circle back to the age rating. While some elements might be a bit mature for younger readers (as I mentioned, that one intimate scene and some witty banter are definitely not for an 8-year-old), I think for anyone 14 or 15 and up, it’s a fantastic entry into the world of high-stakes fantasy. It sparks important conversations about trust, loyalty, and fighting for what you believe in, even when the odds are stacked against you. This BOOK is more than just an adventure; it's a study in resilience and the power of hope against overwhelming odds. Overall, my REVIEW of this “Isla book” is overwhelmingly positive. If you’re a fan of dystopian survival stories mixed with epic fantasy quests, Light Lark with Isla at its heart is a definite must-read!
