The title is SUPER FITTING! 😩

DECEPTION by Bre Coleman really earned that title because whew… Kira was getting deceived and manipulated from every direction. Like can we say DA-LU-LU?! 😭 Sis drove me INSANE the whole book.

The way she ignored red flags, gut feelings, and the most obvious warning signs had me yelling READ THE ROOM! PAY ATTENTION! I kept waiting for her to lock in and show some real character growth, but she stayed so trusting it stressed me out 😩

Now I will say this: it’s a page-turner and the plot twists were chef’s kiss 💋—Bre Coleman did her thing with the pacing and surprises. I just wanted Kira to find her common sense and get some payback… not get got again 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

And the ending?? I wanted a better payoff because… HOW?!

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 (for the twists + pacing… minus points for the FMC stress 😭)

... Read moreReading 'Deception' by Bre Coleman truly felt like an emotional rollercoaster, especially witnessing Kira's journey from a toxic past toward reclaiming her life. What stood out to me was how realistically the author depicted the challenge of healing from trauma while facing constant external threats. Kira’s hesitation to trust her instincts and the way she repeatedly overlooked red flags reminded me of how tricky it can be to break free from cycles of manipulation in real life. One aspect that resonated deeply was the psychological tension created by Kira’s mysterious stalker-like experiences, ranging from creepy messages to stolen privacy. It really showcased how trauma survivors can feel vulnerable even in 'safe' spaces. The layers of complexity added by Damien’s unnerving return and the lingering threat from her abusive ex-husband illustrated how past relationships can profoundly impact present safety and mental health. Moreover, the pacing and clever plot twists kept me hooked, making it nearly impossible to put the book down. Each chapter peeled back more secrets, highlighting the blurred lines between victim and survivor, trust and fear. I appreciated how the story avoided easy resolutions, reflecting real healing’s messy and non-linear nature. If you’re someone who enjoys psychological thrillers with strong emotional depth, this book is a perfect pick. It does more than just entertain—it brings to light the importance of recognizing red flags, valuing one’s instincts, and the courage required to face one’s darkest fears. Plus, it offers a reminder that sometimes the hardest battles are those fought within. Overall, 'Deception' is not just a suspenseful thriller—it’s a powerful exploration of trauma recovery and resilience wrapped in suspense that anyone fascinated by complex characters and gripping stories would appreciate.
