It’s a joyful time of year. This is a time for a new beginning and a time to start fresh!

In January, we all make New Year’s resolutions with the best intentions, in the hope of making a better version of ourselves, changing things we are not happy about, or just having a better new year.

But very few people can fully carry out their resolutions!

We have all been there, even me! 🙋🏻‍♀️

But this does not need to be the case.

Take these steps to ensure you stick to your fitness New Year’s resolution (actually, you can apply this to pretty much any New Year’s resolution).

✔️Know your WHY!

✔️Get organized

✔️Give your resolution structure

✔️Make your resolution performance not image-based

✔️Create accountability (a friend or a coach are great options)

✔️Give it time to make it stick

✔️Aim for a little better rather than perfect

✔️Congratulate yourself

✔️Stay focused – don’t give up

✔️ Hire a coach to guide and support you (😉 me)

However, studies show that a significant number of people abandon their resolutions by February. To succeed, it’s crucial to have specific goals and a well-structured plan. Research suggests that understanding your 'why' behind the resolution is vital. Motivation can wane without a clear purpose. Organizing your time and environment can also help; consider setting smaller, achievable milestones rather than overwhelming yourself with one large goal. Accountability is another key factor—sharing your goals with friends, joining a community, or hiring a coach can keep you motivated and engaged. Moreover, practice self-compassion and focus on progress instead of perfection. Celebrate small victories along the way to stay inspired. Remember, lasting change is a gradual process, and prioritizing consistent effort over quick results will lead to sustained success. By employing these strategies for your New Year’s resolutions, you can foster a healthier, more fulfilled life throughout the year.
