A BUSY day in the life of an Instruc. Tech major!
A BUSY day in the life of an Instructional design and technology major-masters edition
I work 3 jobs in total (vet field, I’m a professor, and I own my own business!) and I’m a full time masters student.
Friday I only focused on one of my jobs-the vet office.
Normally during my lunch break I work on homework for the entire hour just to get ahead so at night I don’t have to do as much but sometimes even with homework during lunchtime I’m still working on homework and going to bed later than I’d like. 2 more years and hopefully after that the opportunities and doors I need to open will and I can further my teaching career where I’d like it to go!

Navigating a hectic schedule as a master's student in instructional design and technology can be quite challenging. With multiple responsibilities—working in the veterinary field, teaching as a professor, and running a personal business—effective time management becomes crucial. Students often utilize lunch breaks for studying, allowing them to minimize evening study hours. This strategic approach not only helps in managing coursework but also aligns with long-term career aspirations in academia. As the educational journey progresses, students should seek opportunities for networking and professional development, which can open doors to new career paths in instructional technology. By prioritizing tasks based on deadlines and complexity, students can create a manageable workflow. Utilizing productivity tools such as digital planners can streamline organization, allowing for a focused study environment. Balancing work and school life also emphasizes the importance of self-care—setting aside time for relaxation, hobbies, or family can rejuvenate the mind and enhance overall productivity. As you navigate your studies in instructional design and technology, remember that the skills gained are not only academic but also vital for creating impactful educational experiences for future learners. By focusing on personal growth and professional networking while completing your degree, you will be well-equipped for a successful career in this dynamic field.
