Calabrese red pepper Pesto Alfredo
I recently came across this calabrese red pepper pesto at Aldi and had to try it! Basically I made homemade alfredo and then added this whole jar into and mixed it together. Defiently needed some salt but it was good! They have a lemon pesto I want to try as well at Aldi. For next time I would also add broccoli!
This was quick easy and delicious!
Okay, so who else loves an amazing Aldi find that makes dinner a breeze? I recently grabbed a jar of their Priano Calabrese Pesto with Red Peppers, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer for quick, flavorful meals. I initially mixed it into my homemade alfredo sauce, creating that beautiful creamy, reddish-orange sauce you see, and it was a hit! But after trying it, my mind started racing with all the other possibilities for this little 6.7 oz (190g) jar of deliciousness. First off, let's talk about the pesto itself. It’s got a lovely kick from the Calabrese peppers, but it’s not overwhelmingly spicy. It’s savory, rich, and has a wonderful depth of flavor that instantly elevates any dish. If you're used to traditional basil pesto, this is a fantastic adventure into something different and equally versatile. Beyond Just Alfredo: My Favorite Ways to Use Priano Calabrese Pesto Elevated Pasta Dishes: Of course, it's amazing with classic fettuccine pasta, but don't stop there! Toss it with penne, rigatoni, or even some fresh tortellini. I love adding grilled chicken or shrimp and perhaps some roasted bell peppers or, like I mentioned, broccoli next time! A splash of pasta water helps thin the sauce and make it extra silky. Gourmet Sandwich Spread: Forget plain mayo! Slather this pesto on your sandwiches, wraps, or paninis. It’s incredible with turkey, mozzarella, and some fresh arugula. It adds such a vibrant pop of flavor. Quick Pizza Base: For a truly unique and speedy dinner, use it as the base for your homemade pizza instead of tomato sauce. Top with some crumbled sausage, goat cheese, and fresh basil – heaven! Marinade Magic: Mix a couple of tablespoons with olive oil, a squeeze of lemon, and maybe a touch of garlic, and use it to marinate chicken, fish, or even firm tofu before grilling or baking. It infuses everything with incredible flavor. Flavorful Dip or Spread: Stir it into some cream cheese or Greek yogurt for an instant dip for crackers, pita bread, or a veggie platter. It's also fantastic spread on crostini for an easy appetizer. Pro Tips for Using Your Calabrese Pesto: Season to Taste: Like I discovered with my alfredo, sometimes these jarred sauces need a little extra salt or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to really make the flavors sing. Don't be afraid to taste and adjust! Add Freshness: A sprinkle of fresh parsley, basil, or a grating of Parmesan cheese can brighten up any dish made with the pesto. Stretch it Further: If you want to make the jar last longer or lighten the sauce, mix it with a bit of olive oil, a spoonful of tomato paste, or even some vegetable broth. This Priano Calabrese Pesto from Aldi is truly a versatile pantry staple that can transform simple ingredients into something special. It's perfect for those busy weeknights when you want something delicious without a lot of fuss. Go grab a jar on your next Aldi run and let me know how you use it!
