*note this recipe is my version! There are tonssss of different ways to make this casserole dish. This is how I make it.
✨Ingredients:
2 cans cream of chicken
1 cup sour cream
1/4-1/2 ranch packet (this will get REALLY salty if you do more than half the packet)
Paprika (use your heart
Pepper (use your heart)
Bacon (cooked) - I used great value real bacon pieces
1 cup cheese of choice (I did 1/2 cup sharp cheddar 1/2cup mild cheddar)
1 pack of Chicken tenderloins (or breast)
Green onions (optional, I forgot to buy them)
Tator tots (you can also do the mini tots by olrida)
✨Instructions:
-Cook chicken and shred, set aside.
-In a mixing bowel, add the cream of chicken, sour cream, bacon, spices, 1/2 cup cheese(save other half), and ranch pack. Mix well.
- Add shredded chicken and half bag of tater tots, to the mix and mix well
-Grease a 9x13 baking dish and add the mix to the baking dish
-top with the rest of the cheese and bag of tots
-Bake at 450 for 50 minutes (mini tots are about 30-35 minutes at 450)
Serve with green onion on top.
We ended up making some broccoli with this as well but this is delicious and filling!
Delicious!

If you're looking for a comforting and satisfying dinner that's both easy to make and packed with flavor, this chicken bacon ranch tater tot casserole is a fantastic choice. What I love most about this recipe is how flexible it is—you can customize the ingredients to suit your taste or whatever you have on hand at home. For example, instead of using a ranch seasoning packet, you might opt for a homemade mix of dried herbs like dill, garlic powder, and onion powder to control the saltiness better. I have tried making this casserole with different cheeses, such as a blend of mozzarella and pepper jack, to add a bit of a spicy twist. Also, incorporating some veggies like steamed broccoli or diced bell peppers into the mixture can increase the nutritional value and add wonderful color to the dish. When cooking the chicken, I recommend using chicken breast for a leaner option or chicken thighs for juicier meat. Shredding the chicken finely helps distribute it evenly throughout the casserole, ensuring every bite delivers the creamy, bacon-infused flavor combined with the crispiness of tater tots. To reduce saltiness, don't use more than half of the ranch seasoning packet, as the recipe suggests. You can always add more seasoning after tasting once the casserole is baked to your liking. Also, topping the casserole with green onions or fresh herbs like parsley right before serving adds freshness and a nice contrast to the rich flavors. Serving this casserole with a side of sautéed or steamed broccoli, as mentioned in the original recipe, is a great idea to balance out the meal with some greens. Alternatively, a crisp garden salad or coleslaw pairs wonderfully and adds a refreshing crunch. Overall, this recipe has become a staple in many households because it combines convenience with deliciousness. Whether you're meal prepping for the week or needing a quick dinner option, this hearty chicken bacon ranch tot casserole will not disappoint. Give it a try, and don't hesitate to tweak it to make it your own!
