Middle school was a time, man #wlw #lgbt #comingout
Middle school can be a really confusing time, especially when you're starting to understand your feelings and attraction to others. For many who identify as women loving women (#wlw), like myself, that period is filled with intense emotions and the fear of being 'found out.' I remember the moment when I realized I liked girls—it felt both thrilling and terrifying, as if a part of me was finally clear, yet I knew revealing it could change everything. The hashtags #wlw, #lgbt, and #comingout aren't just labels; they represent communities and experiences that provide support and validation. When I first came to terms with my identity, I didn't have a lot of resources or people to talk to openly. Social media communities and forums related to these hashtags have been incredibly helpful, connecting me with others who have shared similar journeys. Being a young person exploring LGBTQ+ identity often means navigating emotions like anxiety about acceptance from family, friends, and classmates. The fear that 'other people would find out' can feel overwhelming and isolating. However, embracing who you are and connecting with empathetic communities can empower you. If you're going through a similar experience, remember that your feelings are valid and you're not alone. Coming out is a personal choice and journey; it doesn't have to happen all at once or in any particular way that feels uncomfortable. There are many resources, support groups, and online platforms dedicated to helping young #wlw and LGBTQ+ individuals express themselves safely. Reflecting on my middle school experience now, I realize that the process of liking girls and coming out was an important part of my self-discovery and growth. Sharing these stories helps break the stigma and encourages others to be authentic to themselves.
