My Nails Lasted Me 10 Weeks!

OMG, I made it 10 weeks without getting my nails done!

This was by far the longest I had ever gone. You can see how ridiculously grown out they were, but somehow I still got compliments on them 😅. Because I knew I was spreading my appointments out, I went with a very natural color.

Sadly, two days before my appointment, I broke one nail throwing a ball for my pup, which is why I had to go shorter today 😢. My nails last so long because I get a gel overlay and a dry manicure instead of gel color or acrylic.

From talking to my amazing nail tech, I learned that this method is much healthier for your natural nail plate. I absolutely love having them freshly done, but it usually takes about two hours for the entire process, which is why I try to make them last as long as possible!

If you haven't yet, you need to give this nail technique a try. I will never go back to acrylics again!

Gel overlays are a popular choice for a long-lasting finish, offering durability while being gentler on the natural nail compared to acrylics. This method involves a technique that allows the natural nail to breathe, promoting nail health while ensuring they look beautiful and well-groomed. To keep nails looking great for weeks, it's essential to use high-quality products and to maintain a regimen that includes moisturizing your cuticles and nails regularly. Avoid exposing your nails to harsh chemicals, which can weaken them. Additionally, if you're active, consider wearing gloves while doing chores or outdoor activities to protect your manicure. If you're interested in trying gel overlays, consult with a professional to select the right colors and finishes for your style. Many nail techs now offer dry manicures, which can polish your natural nails without the excessive filing that traditional methods require. This approach leads to healthier nails and lower maintenance over time. Lastly, remember that regular touch-ups can help preserve the aesthetic and health of your nails. If you've experienced breakage, don’t be discouraged! Focusing on nutrition and care can help your nails grow strong and beautifully over time, ensuring you can achieve that desired length and look.

I am a nail tech, 10 weeks .... wow! however, when i have clients that wait that long, I have to do a total rebuild, which is more expensive. also, your natural nail will grow out, and the apex where the strength is, grows out too far. the potential to break your natural nails is more prevalent. my suggestion would be to try to have them done every 5 to 6 weeks and pay for just an infill. the total money you spend is about the same, and it will save you the hassle of potentially breaking your natural nails. also, regular cuticle prep helps with the strength and health of your natural nails. they are adorable short also. try looking for a tech that offers Russian manicures. it really helps with growth, health, and strength of your natural nails.
