We raised $600 for charity!

So many of you asked about our lemonade stand! It was such a rewarding experience, and I truly believe anyone can do it. If you're thinking about hosting your own fundraiser, especially for a cause like animal rescue, here are some things we learned that might help you get started! Choosing a Cause Close to Your Heart: The first and most important step is picking a charity that genuinely resonates with you. For us, PAWSITIVELY PURRFECT ANIMAL RESCUE was an obvious choice because we’ve seen their amazing work firsthand through fostering. We’ve had so many wonderful puppies come through our home thanks to them! Look for local shelters or rescue groups that need support. You can often check their websites or social media to understand their mission and see exactly how they use donations. It makes a huge difference when you truly believe in who you’re helping; it fuels your passion and makes the event more meaningful. Planning Your Stand for Maximum Impact: Don't underestimate the power of a simple setup! We focused on making delicious lemonade from scratch – definitely a crowd-pleaser! Having a little extra treat, like our homemade lemonade cookies, was a bonus and really encouraged more generous donations. Think strategically about your location: a busy street corner, a community event, or even just your front yard can work wonders. Make sure to create a colorful, easy-to-read sign that clearly states your cause and what you're raising money for. We opted for a “give what you can” donation model, which felt incredibly welcoming and allowed everyone to participate, no matter their budget. You might be surprised – people are often much more generous than you expect! Spreading the Word About Your Event: We primarily relied on word-of-mouth and a few simple social media posts to let our friends, family, and local community know about our stand. Don't be shy about sharing your event! A heartfelt post with a cute picture of your stand, or even one of the adorable animals your efforts will support, can go a long way. We even had some people stop by just because they saw our signs and were curious about what we were doing. Every share helps extend your reach! Making It a Meaningful Family Affair: This project was extra special for us because it was my daughter's community service requirement for her junior black belt. Involving kids in charitable work teaches them so much about empathy, responsibility, and the incredible impact they can have. She loved baking the cookies, helping with the signs, and especially talking to everyone who stopped by. It turned into a fantastic bonding experience for us, creating memories we'll cherish. Think about hosting a bake sale, organizing a car wash, offering pet-sitting services, or even collecting old blankets and towels to donate directly to animal shelters.
