MAJOR APARTMENT DEEP CLEAN✨🧽🫧
We move in 11 days so the DEEP cleaning starts today!! #movingout #cleaning #cleaningmotivation #deepclean #cleaningroutine
Okay, fellow movers! With only 11 days left until the big move, the 'MAJOR APARTMENT RESET' is officially underway at my place, and let me tell you, it's a marathon, not a sprint! I know the thought of deep cleaning an entire apartment before moving in can feel totally overwhelming, but trust me, a little planning goes a long way. I've learned a few things from past moves, and this time, I’m tackling it head-on to make sure our new space feels fresh and welcoming from day one. I'm sharing my personal strategy and some must-do steps that have made a huge difference. Why Bother with a Deep Clean Before Moving In? Before diving into the how-to, let's talk about the why. For me, cleaning an empty apartment before all the boxes arrive is a game-changer. First, it’s so much easier to clean without furniture and personal items in the way – you can truly get into every nook and cranny. Second, it gives me peace of mind knowing I’ve eliminated any lingering dirt or allergens from previous tenants, ensuring a truly fresh start. Third, it’s a psychological reset; walking into an immaculate home makes unpacking feel less daunting and more like setting up a sanctuary. Finally, it's a great opportunity to spot any maintenance issues before you’re settled in, like a leaky faucet or a broken blind, allowing you to address them proactively. My 11-Day Deep Clean Blueprint (Adaptable!) Here’s how I break down the monumental task to make it manageable: Day 1-2: Kitchen Overhaul. My strategy always starts with the kitchen because it's usually the busiest and often the dirtiest. I tackle the inside of cabinets and drawers first – wiping them down, and even lining them with fresh shelf paper if needed. Then, the oven, microwave, and fridge get a thorough scrub. Don't forget the backsplash and scrubbing grout lines! For tough grease, a good degreaser and some serious elbow grease are key. I also make sure the sink and disposal are disinfected. Day 3-4: Bathroom Blitz. This is another big one. I focus on disinfecting everything – toilet, shower/tub, sink. For stubborn soap scum, a mixture of white vinegar and dish soap has been my lifesaver. Don't forget to scrub the grout in the shower and wipe down all fixtures. I even take off the showerhead to de-calcify it if needed! Day 5-6: Walls, Doors & Baseboards. It's amazing how much dirt and scuff marks accumulate on these surfaces. A soft cloth with a mild all-purpose cleaner works wonders. Pay special attention to light switches and door handles – they get touched constantly! This step really makes a difference in brightening up the entire space. Day 7-8: Windows & Fixtures. Crystal clear windows are a game-changer for letting in natural light! I use a squeegee and a good window cleaner for streak-free results. While I'm at it, I wipe down light fixtures, ceiling fans (if any), and air vents. Dust bunnies love to hide in these spots! Day 9-10: Floors & Final Touches. Once everything else is clean, it's time for the floors. I vacuum thoroughly, paying close attention to corners and edges where dust accumulates. Then, I mop all hard surfaces. If there's carpet, a good carpet shampooer can work wonders for a truly fresh start. On day 10, I do a final wipe-down of all surfaces, check for any missed spots, and make sure everything is dry and ready. Day 11: The Fresh Scent & Walk-Through. On the actual move-in day, or just before, I like to open all the windows for fresh air and maybe even put out some essential oil diffusers to make the place smell amazing. A quick walk-through helps ensure everything is perfect before the movers arrive. My Must-Have Cleaning Arsenal: To make this deep clean a success, here are my go-to supplies: An army of microfiber cloths A reliable all-purpose cleaner White vinegar & baking soda (natural powerhouses for so many cleaning tasks!) Scrub brushes (various sizes for different surfaces) A good vacuum cleaner with attachments Mop and bucket Streak-free glass cleaner Heavy-duty degreaser for the kitchen Disinfectant wipes/spray This approach has saved me so much stress, and walking into an already-clean home feels like a true reward after the chaos of moving. Remember, it's about making your new space feel like yours right from the start!
