Why Easter is Important to me.

This time of year, leading up to Easter, always feels like a profoundly personal journey for me. It’s a period where I dedicate myself to a deeper study of Jesus’ last week, and it truly is a rollercoaster of emotions. But through it all, there's an overwhelming sense of hope and gratitude that I want to share. When I immerse myself in the narratives of Jesus' final days – from His triumphant entry, to the Last Supper, His agonizing prayers in Gethsemane, and ultimately, His crucifixion – it’s impossible not to feel the weight of His sacrifice. The image of Jesus, enduring such immense suffering, even being 'whipped' and then nailed to the cross, is a stark reminder of the depth of His love. It's a painful picture, but it’s also the foundation of our salvation. I often reflect on the significance of those moments when Jesus was on the cross, knowing that every lash and every nail was for us. But the story doesn't end there, and that’s where the true power lies! The resurrection changes everything. As it says in the Bible, 'I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even if they die.' (JOHN 11:25). This verse resonates deeply with me. It’s a promise that transcends death and offers eternal hope. Imagine the disciples, seeing the empty tomb and hearing the angel's words: 'He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.' (Matthew 28:6). This is the pivotal moment that confirms everything. Without the resurrection, as the scripture beautifully puts it, 'we would have no hope ourselves. We would lack faith!' And it’s so true. Because He died and resurrected, we gain a hope that goes 'beyond our understanding.' It’s a gift, not something we earn, but something freely given. This gift means that 'Because He died, I am Saved.' This isn't just a theological concept; it's a living truth that impacts my daily life. It means forgiveness, a fresh start, and the assurance of victory through Christ. This understanding gives me strength, comfort, and a vibrant faith that carries me through all of life's ups and downs. It truly gives us the victory through our Christ Lord Jesus, as 1 Corinthians 15:57 reminds us.
